Hey,

I'm starting out on my first kit seeking to become an OM. I will use this thread to post updates as I have them.

This weekend I began work on the Helmet.

• Started with a purchased helmet.
• Added physical battle damage.
• Prepped for first coats of paint.
• Got the base metal colors sprayed.

Edit: Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement. 

Weekend 2 Update:

• Used Liquid Latex over the physical damage.
• Airbrushed the "Primer" paint layer.
• Airbrushed the Grey and Brown layers. I used more latex as I went.
• Airbrushed 2 shades of Green, but due to time and weather I only finished the front

Mid-Week Update:

Finished the green. Next step is the ears.

Update:

• Painted the first layer for the ears. Black top coat to be done when the weather agrees.
• Got excited at the Armor Party and so I ripped the tape off.
• My visor got here so I temp placed it inside with some tape because I just needed to see how it'd look

I also started on my Flack Vest Armor.
I bought some pre-made plates probably around 7-8 years ago and never did anything with them. Today I cut them to fit me better and match the design I have for my OC. and then (Very) rough placed them over a shirt for reference. These plates still need to be re-heated and formed to match my current body, but I'm very happy with how the shapes came out. I plan on replacing the center diamond as I have a slightly different design.

Your bucket is totally gorgeous, vod! I love the battle damage, it's realistic but also...stylish 

As for your plates, I'd check with your Ruus to make sure you get your spacing down. They look a little far apart to me, but 1) I'm not an App Team member and 2) they at least look consistently spaced (which is the most important thing, I've heard) so take my words with a grain of salt.

Can't wait to see this kit completed! Good luck with your build

Outstanding work on the weathering! Your plates *do* look a little far apart but once you reshape and place them, we'll be able to get a better picture of what's going on and where to fix.

I Managed to get the last coat of paint on the ears last night but haven't taken a set of proper pictures yet.
Things left to do on the bucket:

• Dry Brushing
• "Dirt" Wash
• Seal Everything
• Interior Foam/Paints
• Permanently Mount Visor

I agree the plates are way too far apart right now. I mostly just wanted to take a look at how the overall shapes were turning out.  I probably will be working on my soft parts and then get the plates shaped to that once it's on me.

I also have started working on trophies/trinkets. My first is an extra center Diamond that I will give a good bit of damage too and paint up.

Sounds like you have a very good grasp on what your next steps are. Fantastic work on that bucket. Love the green!  Look forward to seeing more!
