I have a storage box I have that I want to make a display piece out of. What I want to do with it is have a few LED's that turn on/off, flash, and have some sounds to go with them. All push button activated and made to look like a small control panel. I have no idea how to go about this though. Any help is appreciated.

An Arduino controlling a DFPlayer would be the cheaper and easiest solution if you ask me.

Ok... unfortunately I have no clue how to go about working with Aruinos. I would most likely have to commission one.

Learning how to control LEDs with an Arduino should be fairly easy. For the dfplayer there is a library available and the code is basically telling the module "start song X" "stop" "next" and so on. There are lots of tutorials available.

If you don't want to programm you can use self blinking LEDs (they don't require any additional hardware besides matching resistors). I even found some rainbow colorchange LEDs that change automatically. I found all of them on eBay. I used to use soundboards with onboard flash memory that work without programming and simply play a sound attached to a pin on the board when a button is connected to the pin. Maximum supported sounds this way are 5. It's called JQ-6500.
As far as I know the dfplayer supports operation without microcontroller too. It works by connecting resistors of a specific value to one of its pins to controll the sounds.
