Novoc Mereel's hand-me-down guantlets

Hello everyone! I realized I didn't have a separate post for my gauntlets, and didn't want to spam my armor thread with a fourth post in a row, so I figured I should probably just make a separate post for them anyway in the Gauntlets board.

Anyway, I inherited these puppies from a member who used to live in town and sold some things off before he moved away. Here's a picture of them before I did any work on them:

As you can see, one is very plain, and the other has a sweet minigun attached to it (that's motorized!). I wanted to modify the more plain one (worn on the right arm) to have a couple buttons and maybe a screen and a mounted weapon or two, and then just re-paint the other with maybe a few small modifications. I found these buttons on Amazon, they're meant to  be testors for mechanical keyboard switches, but I cut a rectangle out with my Dremel and they fit right into place, and look neat to boot!

I hit them with some primer (not pictured), and sanded them down to the plastic. There was kind of a weird texture that I tried to get rid of as much as possible. When I'm able to get out and paint next, we'll see how I did.

Not much has been done with the rotary cannon gauntlet, besides sanding off most of the paint and taping it over to prime the next time the weather is halfway decent. I'm going to keep the repaired crack that's already there since my kit has some other repurposed bits with "battle damage" on them, so that bit will fit right in.

I've got some hardware store bits to add some rockets to the right one, as well as a screen. I'll try to get a few slapped together and some pics taken.

I had an idea for a screen, but wanted some feedback before I did it. I have some clear resin that would look neat if poured into a small styrene box. My thought is that I could carve some stuff into the bottom and it would show through the resin, and since it's clear, give the effect of a screen in the gauntlet.

Looks great so far vod, for the screen the clear resin would work, but it might be easier and less messy to just use some clear acrylic? What sort of thing are you planning on having under there? My suggestion would be some sort of radar/tracker graphic.

That was what I was going to do. I had planned to do something similar to the tactical screens we see a lot with the grid lines and curves all over the place. Acrylic would probably definitely be easier, but I don't have any on hand at the moment, and I'm not keen on buying a whole sheet just for a couple square inches of area if I don't need to.

That's... not a terrible idea. Gotta run some errands tomorrow anyway, I'll swing by the goodwill while I'm at it!

I dont know if you have any experience with arduino but you can buy a cheap led screen and program the arduino do have readouts and use the gun at the same time. maybe a ammo readout would be cool.

Or a temperature gauge... you could probably even make it stop spinning if it gets "overheated"
