It looks really great! Those cheeks are always the hardest part; I've founbd that using a bit of fiberglass cloth or mat, soaked in resin and applied to the inside of the mandibles, will help solidify the cheek area.

And feel free to share the tutorial link with anyone and anyway you like. ;)

Thanks...I put it on my helmet WIP for future reference.  I have never tried using any of those things before but after what happened today I may be ready to learn how.  Don't worry it wasn't too bad,  I just had to redo the cheekbones when I accidentally tore them apart while cutting the visor out.

Update:

I fear it may be too wide.  :(  Hopefully once I am in armor it will look more balanced.

I finished sanding my trauma plates and got most of them heat formed...I didn't finish the chest because I cracked the seam where I had darted it.  So I sanded it down and re-glued it.

Then I started gluing the plates on.

My spray painting took half a step backward.  A gust of wind put leaves and bits all over my pieces.  So I had to sand them down.  I got them back to silver and got one layer of clear as well.  I might be able to do some weathering in the next few days.

Once the collar plate and shoulder bells are added, it will fill out the silhouette of the helmet a lot. :)

Thanks Rob (Ohl'd Vart) and Awell!

I got some painting/ weathering, bondoing (not sure if that ones a word) and sanding done today.

I bondoed (Oh I am having fun with this word  :) ) my bucket and trauma plates and then the sanding began.

I have a more detailed run down on the helmet construction in the Helmet's board.  (Bucket Time)

I also did some painting/ weathering on the shin-knees, hands and shoulders

I still have to wash the masking fluid off (toothpaste) but I am fairly pleased with the results.

I also glued the main trauma plate onto my chest plate.

Awesome progress :)

Thanks!

So, yesterday I didn't get much done on my kit.  I did however tile the bathroom floor so it was still a productive day.  I tried to do some bondo on my helmet afterwords and flubbed the batch.  I have some scraping to do.

Anyways,  I finished washing off the toothpaste from the pieces.  And painted the heads of the chicago screws for my hands and shoulders.

I patterned out my back plate and set it on my vest to make sure I wasn't off the wall on my sizing.

I started designing my gauntlets...sorry no photos, sketches are really rough.  I also think I decided on my main weapon...I am leaning toward a beskad but one that is on the smaller side.  I also want to make a tranq pistol as my second weapon.  And a whole bunch of other things but not yet.

And I started my second scratch built helmet.

I asked my dad if he had any five gallon buckets...he said sure...I found like 15 outside my porch the next day.  All covered in the roof coating material that he works with but hey...free buckets.  Now I can make all the helmets I want as long as I use buckets.

Not too much to show in terms of direct progress.  A little bit here and little bit there now that school's back up and running online.

I got my back plates sanded.  I haven't decided if I want to do trauma plates on the back yet or just give the illusion with paint.  I'll have to think on it for a few days before I decide.  I have also begun the arduous process of bribing a sibling to assist in forming my back plates.  ;)  Food goes a long way in my family, might have to do some baking.

I also sanded down a layer of bondo on my helmet and added a second layer.

I also started on my beskad.  I found a bit of scrap wood and am using that as the main blade.  I haven't figure out how to do the hilt yet as I want to add a sword breaker prong like on a Jitte.  So I sanded them down but I do need to use some filler to correct a few of the holes that scraps tend to have.

So I finally bribed my sister to help me form my back plate.  My brother ended up helping as well because he was there.  I think it came out pretty good.  One question...can I leave the overlap between collar and backplate? or do I need to trim it down so that they lay flush?

I also got some work done on my weapon.  Mostly just spot filling so nothing much to show.

So what attachment method is better for shin-knees?  Should I use the buckets or try to get it perfect with snaps?  The straps will be secured to the edges of the shin-knee with the chicago screws.

I started on my gauntlets .  I got a basic pattern down and then I made a cardboard mock-up.  The mock-up went fine but when I cut out the actual pieces they were a tad small.  I may still be able to use half of them but I will need to cut the other half out again bigger.  Guess I didn't build enough wiggle room into my pattern for the thickness of the pipe.

I also got my first coat of primer on my one helmet and the second coat of primer on the other.  They're starting to look like the real deal...not cut up five gallon pails.

Thanks to both of you.

Not much progress to show.  I did a little fiddling with the spacing and getting the collar and shoulder to line up.  I still have a little more to shave off to get a flat fit.  I did get the wood filler and first layer of primer on my beskads.  I realized after that I hadn't added my little greeblies to it yet so I have to sand down the spots where I am adding them and then prime again.  I also started on a box for my belt.   And of course some sanding and priming on the buckets.

Still trying to decided on my external box decorations.  I think I like the first one best.

So online school is nice if I want to sit on my back porch and sand a piece of armor while listening to my lectures, I can.  Down side is that pretty much every assignment requires a 3-4 page response paper.

Anyway... did some small stuff today.  Got another coat of bondo on my chest piece and sanded it down.  Also did some spot bondo on one of my buckets.  I added my greeblies to my beskad and gave it a coat of glossy black.  I plan on adding some silver and then some graphite tomorrow.  Hopefully it starts looking like an actual weapon.  I painted my box.  Mounted my hand armor to my gloves and did some work on my soft parts.  Hand sewing and long lectures make a great combo.

I had to use longer chicago screw on the front of the hand armor than I was planning.  Gloves had too much padding for the shorter ones I had painted.  So I'll paint some longer ones when  I get out the white next time.
