New build of a fiberglass bucket
« on: May 10, 2020, 05:18 PM »
Thank you for welcoming me into the community. I bought a fiberglass bucket from a friend. I am honing my dremel skills but know I need to fix a few dings of my doing. I have noticed the top has a small ridge in it. Is this normal or do I fill it in? Also, the vents on the back were a mess do to the casting. Are the slots supposed to be all exact? And how wide should the top notch be compared to the lower half? Thank you in advanced!

As for your dremel damage, once you paint it, it's battle damage.  As for the other issues, a picture would help visualize what you're talking about.

Take a look through this link. It will explain how to post pictures.

Happy building. Can't wait to see the bucket.

Not a bad bucket.  You will need to fill in the dent unless you're going for a canon Boba build.

I have the putty to fix the dent, but ask about the the non-symmetrical shape on the top and the dip that goes front to back in the middle. is this ok. or do I need to fix it?

Smooth it as best you can without sanding through it.   My fiberglass helmet has a bit of a hump on one side.   Cleaning up the key holes in the back will help give the helmet a cleaner look.   I can also see some small pin holes around the visor opening on the mandibles.

All in all it's a good looking helmet.  Just a few things to clean up.

Here are the greebles and range finder parts that came with it. The stalk seems too short and the eyepiece doesn't have a hole for the stalk.

:o  :o :o :o man that's a nostalgic pic...  a lot of the helmets came like that a decade ago .. the key slots looks like they could be replaced.

over all the helmet looks decent and would make for a good custom merc once the dent was filled in

as for the range finder I believe part of the stalk goes into it and the eye piece goes up against the stalk..
