Rebels-Style Jetpack
« on: Jul 15, 2020, 11:37 AM »
Hello!

An OM clan vod printed off and glued Raestin's Workshop Rebels-style jetpack for me. I've done some filling and sanding on it. Used Rustoleum filler primer. Started sanding from 80 grit and am now at 800 grit.

Here's what it looked like when I got it.

And what it looks like now.

Part of the second picture has shadows from the window screen.  :sabine:

I'm hoping to magnet it to my back plate.

But, if that doesn't work, I'll fix up the back plate insert that came with the jetpack. My magnets are still on a boat somewhere.

I have a similar jet pack and I love it. I made my own mounting bracket and used neodymium magnets from Lowe’s.

That is a good looking print!  Just make sure all the print lines are gone!  I can see some still hanging around but I can't see if they are just ghosts of the lines.  Hopefully they are smooth enough for the color to make them vanish.   Keep up the good work!

Thank you both! It's smooth to the touch but there's some ghosting. I'll be refilling since I dropped the jetpack like a fool and it cracked. That's what happens when you go "I'll try to magnet it to the formed back plate!" Fail.

But! I filled it in with apoxie sculpt!

The fuel tank has been giving me fits because it cracked on the seam. But I found some plastic weld and glued it together. Think it solved my problem enough to fill over it. And we're back to endless sanding!
