does anyone know if this kind of armor would be approvable for a modern era chest plate? i'm honestly having such a hard time finding good chestplates that are 3d printable in the style I want.

It should be! It has all the proper components for modern armor so I think you're good.

the thing is though, is that the chest plate is all one piece and not two like most are. I'm probably gonna roll with another set to be safe

That’s not a problem. If you look at “Galaxy style” armor, which is considered Modern armor, the chest plates are fused into one piece with only the ab plate and collar plates being separate.

Tramp is right - modified Modern plates like that are feasible. For officially official guidance check with your ruus’alor and/or the q&a section- worth a search through the section to see if this has come up before (I bet it has).
