Sandborn Vazpez (Custom Legacy Mando WIP)
« on: Aug 01, 2020, 01:28 PM »
So I have a 3d printer but will not use that as my primary method for making my armor. I have/will print the helmet, gauntlets, and weapons. The rest will be made from pvc plastic sheets. I am currently broke, so I can't order the plastic yet but I will work on the gauntlets and weapons when back from vacation. Let me know if the sizing is right for the armor templates please.

For weapons I am thinking two Westar 35's and bladed, pole weapon. Similar to what Kir Kanos wielded in the Crimson Empire comics, which was a double bladed vibro glaive. I would like that look with a single blade.

Got the bulk of the armor made, shaped, and paint silver. It will have the dents and damage masked off with liquid latex and paint the primary colors. Once the latex is removed, it will reveal the silver damage. I am replacing my old 3D printer, and when I get my new one running I will print the gauntlets (I found files for Death Watch style seen in the first episode they were introduced into in Clone Wars, not Bo Karan style.) I will also print an STG44 and modify it to look like IG88’s blaster and also two Westar 35s as secondary weapons. I am tempted to make a vibro glaive but idk. The flight suit needs tailor in the legs to make it a slim fit. I have a flak vest I’m working on made from pleather but needs Velcro and straps for attaching armor to it. I will make a waist sash from left over vinyl fabric and make a gun belt to go over it for the Westars. I still have a lot to do. Plus it’s rainy in my area, so it is hard to find time to paint. Lmk your thoughts, comments, advice, or critiques.

Got the liquid latex applied. It took around an hour of “fine” detail work. I did small smudges on the edges of the plates, thin line scratches, weird shapes like scrapes, and filled the dents. After that I paint said armor. The first coat showed some orange peel skin, but after a few more light coats, it smoothed out. It was weird, the coats of silver were perfect because I washed the plates in soap and water, but the silver paint job had small paint dust that rubbed on my fingers. I guess I should have cleaned the plates more before painting. But they turned out perfect (my standard of perfect for a spray rattle can). Tomorrow I will peel off the latex and assembled the armor. In your opinion, deep blue or sunflower yellow vinyl fabric for waist sash? And I will, if approvable want to wear a black adidas tracksuit as my flight suit. It has a stand up color to act as neck seal, more breathable than flight suit/coveralls, more comfortable, better range of motion, and I wear them casually a lot. I would cover the logos (the chest logo would be covered by vest and armor), sew pockets shut, and hide the zipper. The track suit has white stripes in the sides, but I don’t think that will matter because Pre Vizsla’s first appearance had blue stripes on his flight suit pant legs. Lmk your thoughts, comments, opinions, advice, and what color sash I should pick and the idea of a tracksuit.

And I’ll include a generic adidas tracksuit as an example.

Paint dried and I removed the liquid latex revealing too much damage on the front. I will probably mask off some damage on the front portion and re spray to cover the rest of damage. It looks good imo but maybe too much damage. And my helmet doesn’t match with that much damage, so with less it’ll be better. I may not re paint to cover some of the damage, but would rather repaint my bucket silver, mask damage with liquid latex, and then paint primary colors, or 3D print another and start over to get it to match the damage.I do love how it turned out, but like I said my helmet won’t match. I may do both rly (repaint armor and helmet.) Lmk if you think I should re paint the helmet, the armor, or both. Drop your thoughts below.
