So while I work on my other jetpack commission, there isn't any reason I could build my DW pack side by side with the other one!

I'll first start of by prepping the surface of the pack for paint.

The surface of the pack is a little tacky due to the mold release getting this cast to unstick itself from the mold.  You can see it's a little shiny in the picture, but we want to go ahead and get that cleaned off.

A little over cleaner does the trick.  Just spray it on wait for a second and wipe it off.  I rinse the sprayed surface as well and wipe it down with a clean shop rag and let it dry.

This already was a really clean, crisp cast so there isn't a lot of prep work.  Mainly just some flashing around the seam lines of the mold.  My dremmel with the barrel sander attachment made short work of it.

Added some spot spotty to make sure we're all nice and even.

I'll work on the greeblies and thrusters tonight and post up those shots pretty quick!

Last updated in December of 2020.  My bad.

Small, but important update.

My buddy, mr10DZ was able to hook me up with his soft parts, so flight suit and vest.  Leather goods by Jeremy Finch, down in Texas.  Can't quite remember his shop name at the moment. 

This is basically how it all broke down.



I had a suspicion the vest was a tad too long as these guys have the chest plate line up in a very specific way.  I also hate the way I look in this stuff, so I'm hoping with a shortening of the vest, I'll be happier with it.  I also need to figure out where my neck went.  I ordered another helmet for this kit as I'm not the biggest fan of this one.  We'll see how that breaks down, but I do think I'm going to weather this one more. 

Loose flightsuit is acceptable on these guys. 



Lol a tiny bit too long as the seam between the ab plate and that horizontal middle seam should line up.  So, back to California it goes for some adjustment.

Made a little progress over the weekend.  All my DW stuff is now fiberglassed for some added stability.

Before I did that, however, I added the attachment points for my knee straps and shoulders.



I glue chicago screw studs to the inside of the knee then very carefully glass around them to not mess up the threads inside.  When I go to add the strap for my knee plate, I'll just poke a small hole in the strap, pop the stud through, and screw in the remaining screw part to attach the strap.

Going to try a new thing this time around with the small flexible resin cast hooks.  Simply adhere to the armor, pin on a small 1" loop of nylon to your suit or vest until you're happy with placement, then sew the loop onto your suit.  I'll bolster the attachment with velcro, but I'm really excited to try this out.

Will the clip be too high on the shoulder bell, that when you add the loop to the vest will that make the nylon visible by the weight of the shoulder? if you move the clip down 1/4" to where the top edge isn't flush with the armor may alleviate that.......or i can be totally wrong and your good

That's a really good observation, Ru'Stor.  I initially was worried about the hook placement on the plate so that it would show the attachment method, but I'm pleased to report that the plate sits flush with my flightsuit.
