Armour attachment heavy infantry
« on: Jan 05, 2021, 10:56 AM »
I might be a bad reader, but i can't really figure out the requirements for armour fastening.
The types of approved fastening i get (screws, magnest, velcro and so on), but where does it have to be attached to?

I am making a post imperial heavy infantry, so the chest is in one piece and doesn't need the fabric to be fastened but can be attached with webbing. The abs might benefit from being fastened to the backing though...

How about the thigh and shin armour? It that to be fastened to the flight suit?
The shin armour could be fastened to some boots, would that be acceptable?

Hey RandomCosplay,
The attachment points are how you are keeping the armor on your body.  For example, I use a combination of magnets and pins with locking heads to hold my armor on.  There are magnets on  my chest piece and then magnets sewn into my vest that match up.

This allows the armor to stay on with no visible attachment method.

For my shinees I have leather straps that are visible to hold them on.  They don't have to connect to your flight suit as long as they stay in position and the method used is star warzy and off approved materials.  Though with knees it seems to work better if they do have at least a bit of velcro on the flight suit to help keep them in place.  Shin armor can definitely be mounted directly on the boots if that is the way you want to go.

As for thighs, I have seen both strapped armor (visible matching straps of approved material), velcro on the flight suit and magnets in the flight suit on approved armors.

Do you have any specifics on the pins with locking heads? I'm starting my heavy infantry costume and would really like more info.
