Fixing manufacturer's pockets
« on: Dec 19, 2020, 08:40 PM »
I understand the rules regarding removing 'earthly manufacturer' external pockets and sealing\hiding internal slit pockets. Removing externals neatly with a stitch ripper is NBD, but are there recommended techniques for sealing and\or hiding side and rear slit pockets on men's pants like BDUs and Dickies? I'm afraid I'll seal them or sew them shut and they'll still be just as obvious, just not usable. Bonus points if you can recommend a video I can watch on the subject, haven't found much yet.
Thanks

Pockets that need sealing shut aren't to hide their existence, but to keep them from opening up like an envelope.   A simple stitch line across the top of the pocket will be fine.

Exactly! Just stitch them flat so the edges are together. Ta-da!

Can they be sealed with a strong Velcro or do they have to be rendered nonfunctional?

Pretty sure Velcro would work if it were the same colour as the material.

From the varactyl’s mouth:

Internal slit pockets on the hips and slit pockets on the seat of the pants must be hidden, sewn shut, or fully closed so that they don’t fall open.

I’m using a kama and loincloth so the pockets are covered. My second suit is being sewn from scratch so no offending slit pockets.
