Another update.
My Bo-Katan Mandalorian chest plates arrived and I'm super hyped.

They may not be sitting 100% were they should be due to me trying to hold them up one hand each. But they fit and thats what counts atm haha
This is the last armor piece for me to work on and then everything that remains is literally just fixing the flightsuit and attaching everything properly.

So the game plan right now is simple. Fiberglass, sand and paint the chest plates. Sort out my flightsuit and then work on attachments. So far the lower half is done, its just the upper half, pretty much all thats on the vest and thats all I need to focus on attachment wise.

P.s excuse my lack of coffee expression. Early morning when this arrived and I simply had to unbox right away

So I discovered while sorting out placements on my vest that my chest plate and collar plate do not agree with one another.
They overlap.

Overlapping

This is where my collar plate would normally sit.

I know Bo-Katan in the Mandalorian doesn't have a collar plate but rather two pieces on her shoulders. Each armor design has its own flow. My back plate and chest plate cover up this area very well but I figured it was best to ask first hand.

Is this approvable to not have the collar plate as long as armor is covering the areas?

Even The Mando himself doesn't have a collar plate and since I'm going for that era I have to question if this is era accurate but also merc accurate.

I know with the chest plate lowered like in earlier photos I could make it but I want this to be at its best perfection.

Hey Ally! Using Live Bo chest plates means, to my knowledge, you should be paying attention to the Post-Imperial CRLs rather than the Modern CRLs. This means not only do you not need a collar plate, I'm pretty sure you cant actually have em. If your backplate comes and curves up over your shoulders I think you should be fine, but otherwise I'd make a set of her little weird shoulder straps. Basically, this chest plate sits a lot higher than fett-style plates do, which pretty much does away with the need/space for the collar plate.

Big thank you. I honestly wasn't sure if there was post imp guidelines yet or not haha guess that shows me. Thank you. I'll make sure to do that.
At least I don't have to panic now 🤣

Go to the CRLs page, click the 'post-imperial' tab. It hasnt been updated for season 2 yet, which is why the Bo plates arent listed on there :)

Ok this post is going to be pic heavy here.

So first and for most I finished the plates but as it was pointed out to me, the print from the 3d machine was still visible and wasn't approvalable.
I had been hoping that by constant spray painting I'd fill the gaps in but as you can see, that didn't work out so well.

So a friend gave me advice to use resin fiberglass to help fill in the gaps rather then constantly sand down the plate as I wasn't confident in doing that in case it ruined the whole plate.
So I followed that advice, watched a 501st tutorial on how to do it as the guy was making an approvable kit using 3d prints.
Turns out it worked out really well. Still did a fair bit of sanding, two days worth, but it is very worth it.

I sprayed some primer, found mistakes, sanded and sprayed again and after doing that the end result is finally here.

Tadah!

Its super smooth and boi oh boi do I love that glossy look. It won't last long of course once I add the battle damage and such but my next step is to let the paint dry out, then attach all the pieces back together onto a piece of pvc to create the one plate look.
After that its all attachments.

Still need to work on flight suit. I'm very much procrastinating on it but I know I have to do it soon haha

That looks so much better, good job on smoothing it out.
takes some extra effort but in the end worth it  :like:
What are your plans for the flight suit? :D

Thank you, I certainly agree with you there.
Flightsuit wise I'm planning on cutting it in half and making it a two piece. The upper half is too baggy as a one piece and needs a bit of tailoring. But I hope to shorten legs and arms and make it more nice.

The old original version the flightsuit is way too baggy as you can see, so I plan on making it look right this time haha

Besides that I started working on placement and attachment wise with the chest plate now that its complete.
I'm using velcro for the attachments. The shoulder pads are semi stitched, like three or four threads but are mostly attached with velcro. Only stitched due to their heavy weight. But the velcro seems to be doing its job well.

The only way I could get an accurate attachment onto the vest was using that sticky velcro and pressing it onto the chest while I wear it. I'm surprised at how strong the sticky stuff is but in saying that I am going to sew it on because I dont want to run the risk of a plate falling off while trooping haha.

Only concern I do have is the back plate and how its sitting. Idk if its the way the paint seems to be on the last plate or what but it seems to be a little to one side.

The next thing I'm toying around with is the kama. I've decided I want to make it longer and have a split in it. I think it'll flow a lot better. So I'm working on that  currently.
I plan on starting the flightsuit on tuesday[monday for american time] as I'm stuck working this whole weekend.
So things are coming together really well. All I need to do is flightsuit and then I think I'll start sorting things out for pre-application.
p.s I made the scarf so it'll make the whole vest armor look way better once I've put it all together.

Big thanks everyone. I'm super impressed with how this kit is starting to come along.

Thank you, I hope to make it down for Sydnova. Planning on taking a few days off from work for it. I'll keep an eye on the armour partys for sure.

Ok so for my next part of this post...Well I decided to put everything together.
Minus the flightsuit cause I just haven't had time to get into my craft shop and grab some zippers, but I swear I'll get there.

Anyway, I put everything together and wanted to see how it all looked. I changed the kama to have that split look in the middle. Gotta say it was a good call.
Besides that heres a few photos.

Ok now for the nitty gritty part.
I noticed the belly part of my chest plate seemed to be popping out and over the top of the pouch belt. I'm thinking I will have to adjust this a bit for the belt to sit over the top of the belly part of the plating. I mean it probably didn't help that I bent over a few times but hey what can I say I didn't have a second pair of hands

All action poses were done to see how well the armor plating would hold up.
I also should have attached the scarf onto the vest, same way I did on the last kit by using some safety pins that are well hidden within the fabric its self.

Besides that I think this kit is coming along amazing. I'm planning on adding the pattern design and battle damage in my spare time.
This will look ten times better with all the work put into it with the flightsuit, battle damage, pattern design, and fix up the plating and belt part up.

Well this is the part I have been procrastinating about for some time now.
Flightsuit.
I did attempt to find similar fabric work pants to match my old flightsuit top I have but the pants didn't have that flightsuit vibe when I put them on.
So I've gone back to the drawing board with my flightsuit I bought when I went for my force hunter brig years ago. Its always been way to oversized and thats because it was an ebay buy and it was also more designed for the male anatomy then female.

So in short this is how baggy it looks and I also apologies for the mess in my room but I figured it was a decent shot to show off the baggy and length of the suit.

Now I'm going to attempt to tailor the legs as much as possible to make it less baggy. Idk the word for it but they will be less baggy once I reseam them in.
You can also see how far down they come on me. Short person problems haha. So I'm going to also shorten them.

As for the upper half that appears to be better now as this is what the flightsuit looked like without it being cut in half.

The bottom half and the elastic made the top too baggy as well but now that its separated, it sits really well. I still need to shorten the sleeves and I may also do the same as I am with the pants to make it less baggy in the arm area. But so far everything seems to be going ok.

Plus side to things, I've been working on the battle damage on the plating. I'm not extremely happy with the scratch marks on the side of the chest plate but its a work in progess haha.
