My first kit (help appreciated)
« on: May 05, 2021, 11:22 PM »
Hello everyone!
Finally got the time to make my first kit, got some ideas but first I need the basic plate and soft parts to be able to experiment.
Just made the templates but I am unsure about the size (the placement is awful, i know. the collarbone plate will probably extend into the back one)

Any help with the sizing is more than appreciated

This is a good start! Honestly, your plates are pretty close to the right size but just a little bit too wide. Try trimming about 1/2 cm or about 1/4 inch off the OUTER edges of the collar, chest, and ab plates

Like this? I'm just afraid of them looking stubby

Yep, just like that. Trim just the collar plate and 1 chest plate like that and see how it looks but I think that should be perfect once you trim it.

After trimming my plates thanks to the help of Fenn Beviin I started working on the helmet, after trying templates I made it from cardbard to see the fit and use it to shape the syntra.
If anyone can tell me if the shape is right I would appreciate it!

I think the front might be a little long? That might just be preference. Chest armor is looking nice :like:

Hello to another bucket builder.  Some food for thought...personally I think the front edge of the helmet should come down long enough to not see your jaw when you open your mouth to talk normally, but not to much lower or you won't be able to look down.  You will need to look down sometimes at con's because otherwise you might run over some kids, or trip etc...

The side picture has your nose sticking out.  Remember the visor will not allow that to happen so unless you want a squished nose you might need to change the front to back ratio (lengthen it).  And leave some room for fans and padding, you'll be grateful later.  Proportionally, I think it look fine in relation to your size.

And check out the board for helmet builds.  The bearded Mando has some great YouTube videos for scratch builders and there are other tutorial like builds that you can pick and choose from.

Keep up the good work!  :like:
