Attaching Legacy Plates with Chicago Screws
« on: May 15, 2021, 10:57 PM »
For those of you who have attached legacy style plates with Chicago screws, did you get screws that were the length of the plates you were attaching or a bit longer?
For my case I have 3mm armor and if I attach two plates, should I use 6mm screws, or should I use something longer like 8 or 10 mm screw to prevent the armor plates from being too rigid?
Thanks!

Often times you will use leather or nylon straps and attach the armor plates to those. This allow the plates to move a bit independently, while still being held in place.

If you were just bolting them to each other, it would seem easier just  to glue them together.

I used screws the length of what I was attaching. So if attaching two 3mm plates to make a 6mm. I would use 6mm. :-)
I dont have any examples in my thread I dont think, but I used Chicago screws for most of my kit
