So I've finally gotten around to working some more on my kit and figured I should post some pics and ask a couple questions. First, the good stuff.

As you can see I've chosen to go the 3D printed route with my PI kit. Since it's all 3D printed I know I've got a TON of sanding in my future, but I found hitting it with some resin cuts out the vast majority of print lines. :D

The helmet has been the major focus of my build so far. Hit it with the resin and a couple rounds of spot putty (as you can clearly see) but it's coming along nicely.

The permanent marker is just to help give me visual clues on what I think I need to work on.

Now for the questions. For the armor I've got, there's a gap between the chest and the ab plate on the side as it's two separate pieces. On reference photos I've found of Din in his armor, there is a slight gap between them, but not nearly as noticeable. Am I correct in assuming I'm going to need to bend the chest down closer to the ab? If so, will close count or will it need to touch?

The other question is if I should fiberglass the two pieces together. I'm afraid that even once mounted to a vest they'll rub and shift a bit and I don't want to damage them, but I was worried about mobility if they were one. Anyone have any experience or thoughts on it?

Personally, I would keep them separate. It will facilitate more mobility and range of motion.

As for the gap, that’s a negligible one, it shouldn’t be an issue. If in doubt, however, put it to the Q&A.

Couple of quick updates to share. Got the helmet all sanded down (again), primed and the metal undercoat painted! Very happy with how it went down. Need to get some cheap toothpaste so I can get some chipping put on it and prepare for getting some actual color on it. Think I'm going to do two different shades of blue as well as some bronze. I've got a scrap somewhere with the colors on it as a test but can't seem to remember where I put it...

I got a layer of resin put down on my blasters as well.

I wanted a scope for the carbine so I printed one from an E11. I need to do the resin on the scope and plan on using some cut out bottle pieces for lenses for it. Hopefully it looks as cool in person as it does in my head. I also think I want to add a longer barrel to the carbine to customize it a bit more. I've been trying to find some other greebles to put on it to break up the long expanse of nothing along the sides, but haven't found anything I like too much yet. Might add something to the pistol but for now I'm fairly happy with it.

Only a small update today. I got some bondo put down on a few pieces on some spots I knew would need work.

I got my visor cut out for my bucket as well but I'm still deciding how to install it. I think I'll probably go with Chicago screws.

Got a good bit of work done on the ol' helmet this weekend. A lot of painters tape and toothpaste later and this is what we've got.
