Armor Template Sizing/ Spacing
« on: May 29, 2021, 06:05 PM »
Hey everyone! I'm currently working on my very first kit. I got all of the templates printed and cut out and taped them to my flak vest to see how the sizing was. I figured I'd come on here and check that they were the right size templates before I used them to make my armor.

I eyeballed the spacing and tried to get it as best I could without the pieces of paper falling off, but right now I'm mostly trying to see if I'm using the right size. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Vod,
Well done for getting into building, and more-so for posting here early!

Your plates are a little large at the moment. There are a few tips to get it a bit closer to correct:
 - The bottom of the ab plate should be at your belly-button (or close).
 - You should be able to fold your arms without too much trouble.

So, I'd say you need to narrow it up. It looks a little wide in the aspect at present, so that will help with the proportions at the same time.

Spacing is good.

Thanks for the input! Do you think that to narrow the armor I'll need to trim the templates I have already, or will I need to print new ones?

I would recommend printing off new templates. Trimming down the existing ones will leave your ab plate improperly scaled and looking off compared to the others.

Ok I printed off another set of templates in a smaller size. It seems to me like they fit a lot better than the previous set.

Please let me know if these are a good size and if there are any other corrections that I need to make.
