Hello, it has recently come to my attention that while the Canon brigade CRLs are public, the standard fourms are not.
I know this is common for ALL brigades and for the most part I can understand the argument for it, being that you want people to focus on the main CRLs before trying to go above and beyond for additional CRLs.

However something that I have recently came across is that I have a buddy that has come to me about wanting to build a screen accurate Deathwatch (the one seen in The Mandalorian in flashbacks) however he does not have the ability to see some of the WIPs and development threads that have been posted. (I linked him some to use to help him out) which in my opinion limits individuals wanting to join the club right away with a Canon kit rather than trying to get OM with a custom first.

Now I am not proposing that we do away with Canon costumes being a brigade, I know this has been on and off the table for a bit now. Because those that decide to tackle a canon costume are still going above and beyond the "call of duty" for membership in the club.
However what I do suggest is that the build threads and information threads for Canon costumes get open up to the public (not brigade specific stuff like votes and other Memebers only threads) just so that UMs that decide to tackle these challenges have tools and tips available to them.

Just to give a little background on this:

Many years ago (before I was Brigadier), ALL canon costumes were held to Brigades-level standards, and after App Team approval, were automatically enrolled in Brigades. As a result, the Brigades sections of the forums became the repository of all of the canon CRLs and all of the forum WIPs.

In 2013 or so, this policy ended, so all canon (and later Legends) costumes first went through the App Team and then the applicants had to apply separately to Brigades.

One of the holdovers is all of the Canon/Legends build threads are still in the Brigades forums. A couple of years ago, the Canon/Legends CRLs were moved off the Brigades forums and on to the front-facing MMCC Wordpress site.

I will check in with the Personnel Officer to see about creating and moderating a specific child board for non-Brigades Canon/Legends costumes.

In the short term, UMs/foundlings can post a Canon/Legends build to the Armor Construction forum to show progress and get feedback.

Ah ok, I understand now thank you for the clarification on that. Currently I am working with him and scouring the fourms on my end to try and get him information on the specific kit he is working on, ill go ahead and convince him to go ahead and post what he has and work from there.

Another short-term option is for the UM to become an Auxiliary Member or Supporter, as both of those membership tiers have access to the Brigades forums, but that is not a free option.
