I’ll experiment with side fasteners when I get the back plate built, however everything is also sitting about 2 inches lower than it should in these photos. I’ve since adjusted, but haven’t taken new photos. It does help with the proportions.

I have side straps attached between the breast plate and back plate as well as between my ab plate and back plate. That is what ultimately holds my cuirass to my body, and prevents any floating.
Wow, Tramp, add that to your big collar plate, and it's a wonder you can move at all!  Just kidding. I'm planning on using side straps for my flak vest too, with cobra-style buckles (LightWaveShop on Etsy, who mostly focuses on purse catches or jewelry stuff, actually has some great Cobras in shiny black, shiny silver, and shiny brass for about $4.50 or so each for up to a 1.5" strap). I'm thinking about using 2-4 straps per side. 5 is one too many, though.

Looking forward to seeing updated pics! Great job so far, though, especially with the modeling and printing. I know a tiny bit about 3D modeling, and it isn't easy!

I’m rushing to get a decent amount finalized for Halloween, after which I can slow down and take my time on the back plates and lower body armor.

Here’s a photo of my abdomen plates from the side, I’m looking for feedback on the spacing, including how to minimize it if possible.

I also have the new shoulder plates printed. I have two options: with bicep plate or without. With plate, the shoulders will sit like the first photo, without like the second. Which do you prefer?

If you want a quick costume, go without the bicep plates. They are something you can add later.

However, in the spirit of Legacy armor, you would probably want to have a multi-plate layered shoulder armor, so I would go with the bicep armor to match your ab plates.

Speed wise, skip the bicep for now and come back later; aesthetic wise, I would suggest the bicep plate. But don't do it yet because you are cutting it close on time. I've seen kits done in a week, but you don't want to rush things if you don't have to. Stick to a simple, minimalistic version of your kit so you can look good for your deadline, then come back and add in other plates, details, and finishing touches.

Halloweekend update!

Shoulder plates are fitted. Sash is sewn. Playing around with fur on my gauntlets, will likely also trim the shoulder plates with fur because I have a lot of excess (I bought way too much.

It’s fun to see a large part of the costume come together like this!

Looking good!

For sizing/floating questions and best advice, please talk to your clan Ruus'alor. They are trained to help with these issues and know the CRLs very well. Are you able to attend any armor parties? Having someone see your kit in person can be so much more helpful than guessing with photos on the forums. If you could send front and side photos of your current chest piece with your soft parts underneath, that would be helpful to get a better understanding of how things fall. How are you attaching your plates to your vest? Improper attachment could maybe lead to your floating issues.

I’m definitely working closely with my Ruus. I’m waiting for an AP that’s a bit closer to me to go get some help. All the clan ones we’ve had so far have been over an hour drive which is a tough ask right now.

Well, here’s the Halloween suit up! Still a long way to go, but I can see the progress for the first time :)
