RE: Boba Fett's re-armored look. 


My first question is: What would this be called?  Oversized kama? Long kilt? Skirt? Loin cloth?

My Second question is:  Would it be approvable where a loin cloth is required?

My third question is: If so, any ideas where would I look for a pattern?  I can do armor, but I'm all thumbs with sewing.  The seamstress friend I have isn't familiar with Star Wars, so even if it's simple, I need to bring her a pattern.

So not entirely sure what one might call this, I think I would go with kama but that just because this is Star Wars.

Now it is more then one chunk of fabric as far as I can tell.  It appears to be two sections (front and back) sewn to a sash like waist item.  If you look at your photo you can see the split in the fabric right below the girth belt where it goes in the front and behind.

There are a series of pleats in the front and back to gather the extra fabric into the waist.  I found this picture.  It might help on your quest.




I can tell you that it would most likely not be approvable as far as a loin cloth goes as it must be a separate piece per the CRLs for Modern and Legacy. 

I'm not sure if Kainrath is approved yet but he did something that feels similar and posted pictures on his WIP.  It's not exact but it can get you started in the right direction.

If you’re trying to make Boba Fett in his Mandalorian Season 2 kit, then the custom CRLs don’t matter.  Just try to match the canon sources as best as you can until actual CRLs for that kit are established.  If you want to use that design of soft goods for a custom character, I would recommend asking the App Team first.
