My First Crusdaer WIP
« on: Sep 15, 2021, 08:07 AM »
Hi everyone! My first full kit is going to be Late Crusader Era. I chose to start with the bucket, because for me, it sets the tone for the rest of the armor. I've finished the foundations, and I wanted to check that everything was good before I start the beautification process. I'm basing heavily off of the 'Hunter' style, with some slight mods for my own personal style and skill set (which is limited). Please let me know if I'm on the right track, and I'll keep posting updates on my build! Thanks ya'll!

Nice! Just a question though, is that foam or sintra?

My helmet is foam (it’s the only material I have). My armor pieces I’ll be making out of sintra though. Will the foam not be approved for the bucket? It was my understanding that only the armor couldn’t have foam visible. If it’s an issue  I’m considering getting into resin casting, or purchasing one from a store here. Thank you for your reply!

No, it’s not, not unless you coat it with resin and fiberglass. However, most people feel that the effort to do so isn’t worth it.

Yeah unfortunately EVA foam isn't allowed. But don't be discouraged, It's a really nice build! If you want, Mynock's Den sells this exact helmet on his store and they're fantastic quality. I own two of these helmets myself, and they're a real joy to work on. I'm excited to see the rest of the build!

Edit: I checked his Etsy store ( https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/MynocksDen?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=944698872 ) and he doesn't appear to have the helmet in stock anymore. However, I'm sure if you message them he'll be able to help you out. Taras is a fantastic guy, and a Merc himself.

Something to consider if you want to make it approvable is trying this product to harden your foam  https://www.smooth-on.com/products/epsilon-pro/
