Armor questions
« on: Oct 15, 2021, 10:48 PM »
Hello!

I have just joined this club today!  I am building my costume and it should be completed by the 25th of this month. However, I cannot be an official member due to the age limit. Since I have a year till I can join, I wanted to see if I can get my costume somewhat near perfect until I can officially join. The biggest question I have is the color. I saw under the rules “no sparkle paint.”  For my color I have chosen a vinyl wrap that is a chameleon color of blue to purple. However, this wrap has sparkles. Would this be allowed since it’s not technically paint? Thank you for your time!

Sincerely,
Sienna (aka Ca’tra)

hey Sienna as a fellow 17 year old I just wanted to say, welcome!!!

As for the my recommendation on the paint I would say try to upload a picture so that someone more qualified than I can see it and give you an affirmative or negative on the paint.

when it comes thing like this I believe (not positive) they do it on a case by case basis but they can't say much without seeing it first.

hope this helps and good luck  :like:

I’m not an app team member, but, I would say it probably would not pass muster. It’s not being paint that makes “sparkle paint” forbidden; It’s the sparkles.

Hi everyone!

Thank you for the warm welcomes and for the advice. I greatly appreciate it! Now, I hope no one minds me asking, but why the rejection of sparkles? It has peaked  my curiosity...

If I were to hazard a guess, it’s because it tends to look kitschy and unprofessional, not something a warrior would wear. It also doesn’t fit the Star Wars aesthetic.

I’d definitely post some pictures of what you’ve got currently.

I’m a little worried about this section of the CRLs
Quote
Some examples of instances where the quality clause may be invoked include, but are not limited to …alternate color painting methods like glitter, colored vinyl stickers, wraps or hydro dipping in lieu of regular paint in large areas

But don’t worry yet! Let’s see what you’ve got before deciding on anything.
