I am starting to look for boots for my kit. I was wondering what other people have used in the past. Is there anything specific I should look for? I also have fairly large feet(men's 14-15), if that affects any recommendations.

I use calf-high, steel-capped safety boots I found for about 40 USD. They're not really that heavy and they're very durable, weathering them was so hard because no matter what I did to them they were barely dented.

I use black harness boots, aka the standard Motorcycle boots.

I was looking at some boots online and they look pretty good, but a lot have brightly colored spots in the middle of the soles(orange for example). Is this an issue for approval, and does anyone know good ways to cover those up?

You're probably ok with bright spots on the bottom of your sole - App team doesn't ask for bottom of shoe pics. If it becomes an issue you can work on removing or covering them up, but if you've found the right boots I say get them.  Really the issue is obvious earth brand marks and tags and things, which you can cover or remove. Double check the CRLs against what you're seeing (and any advice given, including from me, because I'm no expert!)
