I had a feeling the ab plate would come back to haunt me. Though, this is reasonable. If I change the ab plate, I will definitely need to bring the sides of the plate in. My concern is then having the vest be too large with a sort of 'dead zone' where the ab plate used to cover.

If I am using the photo below, then I will need to additionally trim my vest. Would that be the case?

I would contact my Ruus'alor, but I am not sure how often they are on. So, I am trying to supplement my own personal timeframe with the other members.

(Updated)

I did some personal drafting. Would this be more appropriate?

With some test fitting, the current plate configuration works pretty well with my belt. Moving them up would leave dead space. Not sure which is right in this case.

I would say the biggest issue you’re having is, not only do you have a long torso, but also narrow one as well.  With the belts lowered, you do have the proper spacing to avoid the crowding issue you had before, but your torso is so narrow and long that shortening the ab plate to the 2:1 with to height ratio would look way off on your body. This is definitely something I would talk to your Ruus’alor about. Your collar plate looks much better now.

Starting to see a common theme. Probably should talk to my Ruus'alor and see what they think. Still confused about the hierarchy. My Ruus'alor Soylc has been in most contact with me. Are they the proper person or am I splitting hairs on a prefix?

Yes, that is the person to talk to. If he (or she) can’t help, put in a question to the App team.

At a glance, I'd say your best needs trimming.

Alrighty,

After some more planning and discussion with my Ruus’alor, I have figured out a potential strategy to this. I have created drawings that are more akin to Jango’s. I have matched the ratio seen in the templates on the forums and raised the line by 4 cm. Which, should both eliminate the ab plate problem and be more of an appropriate style.

(I don’t have photos atm)

Alrighty, quick update

I have been mostly sanding my current parts and doing finishing work. I have my panels again and I have begun working on those. They seem much more appropriately sized.

Side facing

Many of my prints are fairly well sanded and are nearly ready for paint. I still need to work on my soft stuff, but I want to get the armor out of the way before the weather heats up again. I may add things along the way, but I want to get the bulk requirements out before adding additional things. I suspect I will have many of the finishing things done within two weeks (assuming nothing is drastically wrong).

It looks a lot better.

As a member of the "Long torso beanpole club," I feel your pain in trying to alter the plate parts to suit a long torso. The same goes for backplates, so I used the segmented legacy plates.

Speaking of, there's a high chance that you have to trim an inch off the two lover fangs of the backplate because I have a feeling that they will also touch your girth belt items, too,

As a member of the "Long torso beanpole club,".

LOL, I’m sorry that’s great. Yeah, I was thinking of doing something less Jango in that regard. I have seen some more akin to jet pack plates and just going for the 2/3 coverage on the back.

I ordered vacuum-formed plates and realized they were too short before working with a friend who has a vacuum forming machine to remake my torso plates to help compensate for the long torso issue. I opted for a Sintra backplate and made a foam template to help trim and cut where needed.

My best advice is to make tweaks so that it doesn't come up too short. You also don't want to overestimate the length. When you 3D print backplates and use a mannequin program like Armor Smith, you want to size the backplate about 1/3rd less than your back to ensure proper coverage. If it doesn't work out, you may want to do the backplate with 3mm or 6mm Sintra instead.

Not familiar with armor smith, but I’ll have to look at it.

I have a custom backplate which—unfortunately—came apart where I bound it. I may simply recover that and cut it to size. Though, my current test is just a 12 in square plate on my back that is shaped to size. Only problem is trying to take a photo to get it reviewed, since it is not attached.

Alrighty, pretty decent update,

I have begun painting some of my armor pieces. Few are still needing detail work, but the big picture is apparent.

Helmet is not done, but I have a concept I really want to go with.

This is looking amazing, great progress!

I'm trying to get this in before I have to leave for work, so sorry if this was covered and I missed it- you don't have to trim your flak vest. Flak vests can either end right with the ab plate, or be long enough to tuck into your waist items, you just can't have a flap of loose material coming untucked constantly.

I love that helmet design and your paint job so far!

Gotcha. I spoke with my Ruus'alor in the interim between posts and they affirmed that too.

Appreciated!  :D

Helmet Update,

It was still a bit damp in these photos. I may do some more dirty-ing.
