Renan I'ya - Female Legacy WIP
« on: Sep 02, 2023, 02:34 PM »
I already have a WIP started in my Clan’s board, but figured it makes sense to have one here and in the Female Armor boards as well.

Main chest plate is 3mm sintra for ease of shaping. The rest (so far) is 6mm.

Mando creator mock up mostly for color scheme:

Followed Kuu’s tutorial for a darted 3mm sintra legacy plate.

Played around with sintra, fiberglass, and bondo and I have a rough draft of a chest plate crafted. I see that it floats on the bottom edges. Hoping that can be more "conealed" with the overlapping ab plates.

Trimmed the edges of the main chest plate, makes it a lot less floaty on the edges. I still may want to trim the curve in the "armpit" area a little more.
Played around with a collar and some trauma plates. One of the shoulders is super floaty, but it's a start.

Shins.

Please ignore the extra empty screw holes and excess strapping hanging down.
Some plates are sanded and some aren't.
(All part of the "Progress" in the WIP, right?)

Issues I see:
Collar chicago screws aren't level. After photos I fixed the strapping on the left side so they're more even. I'd take another photo but I already put the tripod away and am too lazy to set it back up ...
Left collar needs reshaped a little.

I'm planning to use pins to attach the armor to the vest.

Working on attaching armor to half chaps.

Do you recommend placing a washer or something on the inside of the half chaps to help prevent the screw from pulling through?

Will need to connect with someone for help forming a back plate at some point!

Playing with paint!
Did a few base layers of primer, wet sanded, then put down my layer of teal.
Practiced "shading" with darker blue and black on scrap, and then went to town on my armor.

Took my work in progress for a test drive at NYCC! Thrilled with how wearable things are so far.

The shoulder armor was thrown together and attached at the last minute. I think they’re too small?? The gray belt was thrifted just to have “something” there.

First rough draft of back armor. Am I in the ballpark? I will have help for shaping and fitting.

I get by with a little help from my friends!

Big thanks to my clan mates for helping me fit my back plates. And for hooking me up with some gauntlets!

Worked on getting my back plates rigged together. Trimmed the tops of the plates so there’s less overlap.
Chicago screws, plastic washers, and nylon strapping.

Here is the inside of my chest armor, showing the pins epoxied into place. (Before I disassembled it all.)

Also playing around with masking tape to see what kind of accent design I want to use. I’m digging the asymmetrical look.

Nice work vod! :) It looks like you're well on your way.

I agree that the larger shoulder plates look more proportionate to you. I love that color blue! It's so cool! I look forward to seeing what your progress. :)
