So not only is this my first kit, its my first time ever messing with a 3d printer or cosplaying at all. I'm going to post links of parts I'm considering for my kit, as I've said if its not approved or you think its not worth it let me know, the only thing I think is either hit or miss is the gauntlets I want, one was a retractable/extendable  vibroblade and I think I read that's not allowed somewhere but I cannot find that article again so maybe it was a dream or something. everything will be carbon fiber, the 3d printer I am saving for is especially designed to work with CF and nylon but it can do most other things. i am hoping top pass for either modern or post-imp. color scheme will be something silver or chrome with a deep metallic blue, and possibly with either a gold or orange with small touches of red (mostly lighting or the little triangles I find on most helmets

THATS ALL I COULD POSSIBLY HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT

Logged
Definitely check the torso armor with the Application approval team.  My first impression was that it looks like trooper / clone armor with an Iron Heart slapped on - which having "wrecker Inspired" in the product description confirmed. It does not look like it fits into either Post Imperial or Modern categories.
The helmet may be a little questionable - the back doesn't have a clearly defined 'keyslot' feature but it may have already been approved for modern era. Check through the Q&A for it, and if you don't see it submit a Q&A form.
The gauntlet designs seem fine but truth to tell I'd fill in or file off that mythosaur emblem. It doesn't really add anything and that spot would be better smooth or used for a greeble. If someone can't tell by looking at you that you're Mandalorian, a 1" wide embossed Mythosaur emblem on your gauntlet won't tell them either. The extendable and retractable blade is not an issue if the action is manual - spring-loaded or tension-based props are the problem; basically anything that could possibly launch something or swing something around and cause an injury.
The shoulder armor has pretty generic sci-fi styling so I guess it could pass, but it doesn't feel particularly Mandalorian either. All the relief and ridge details look super annoying to get smoothed out.

Your weapons and prop choices all seem like solid swarzy options. You definitely can't go wrong with a Westar 35. Remember that for approval, you only need one finished weapon to troop with / display. Start simple and keep upgrading.

So the helmet is one that's on the helmet/Era reference guide for modern/post imp, I'll definitely ask about the armor, if not no biggie there are other decent options out there. Shoulder pauldrons I'm trying to see how to add a signet to it in the 3d file. Going with the wolf pack emblem. Maybe add the fulcrum symbol on the other side. We will see, but I can continue to look around for other armor too. It's been a busy weekend  :porg2:

Looked and there it was, right there in the list o' helmets so that's good to know. If you want to go Modern then printing body plates is a waste of time TBH. You'll generally get better results with Sintra. Prints will still need to be shaped to your exact fit to be 'right' and the higher heat resistance of the CF nylon seems like that won't be easy or practical. For the Post imperial styles printing is still a decent option. To keep that same flavor for PI I'd check out the Heavy / Paz Viszla chest plates. Alter Ego or Great Ape or Mystery Makers are some of the names I hear thrown about as quality.

You can always add the emblems afterwards made from sintra or sculpted in epoxy clay. Might make finishing easier.

To be honest, the higher cost of the carbon fiber infused filament seems like the cost/benefit ratio is not favorable - for a good all around material everything I've heard says PETG is better for costumes than most other options. That's hearsay from me though, since I'm primarily a scratch builder.

Well if petg is acceptable I can at least do my helmet like that, there's another approved helmet that I've had my eye on, was hoping they could sell the stl file so I can do carbon fiber, but they only sell finished helmets but that's ok cause they are still my favorite helmet after much searching, the Soul Seeker from Storm Seeker Studios. The pic of it in the same guide is even very close to the color scheme I want to do, just no brown

As far as CF goes, I don't mind a little extra money going that way. It's the only material I know anything about so it's familiar to me, plus I live super cheaply besides how much I order take out lol

so not only is that chest piece not CRL, I just realized I got too excited for it and completely overlooked that its one giant piece. I am a bit fat for this chest piece. I will continue to look and investigate the best way to get chest/back pieces cause my ruus'alor recommends sintra instead of 3d printing

HIM / Paz Viszla style body plates if you are a Mando of Substance for post imperial.
Legacy style plates if you are doing Modern.
They are both adaptable to a broad range of body types, from 'Uses Fencepost For Cover' to 'Oh Lawd They's Comin' sized Mando'ade.

But, both are especially impressive on a larger frame and really play up the 'Walking Tank' vibe because of the overlapping and unified coverage look.
Add some stoutly designed gauntlets and shins etc and a giant melee weapon or BFG for the whole look.

If you are looking for some advice with PETG (or really any other type) printing I have a clanmate who does almost exclusively PETG work, and also has done a few HIM suits for customers so he'd be a good resource if you're interested.

Ok. I think I'm going for a modern look at thr moment. Something about Kamas is making me obsessed with them and I think somebody said Kamas are not current CRL for post imp. I hope I can still use HIM chest armor for a modern look. I'll look when I actually get some free time next week. Holidays and Dr's visits got me busy until Monday

Kama are fine for PI builds. What's not allowed are loin cloths.

ok ill keep that in mind. im literally about to leave my house to get fitted for my kama and I did want a loin cloth with a mythoskaur skull on it, he's a leatherworker. i know I asked him to make it adjustable, I am trying to lose about 100lbs currently and i really don't wanna pay again for a whole new kama. maybe make the loin cloth removable if Post Imp ever gets one?
