Weathering a belt, pouches and holster
« on: Jan 12, 2023, 05:27 PM »
Hi Everyone

I'am in need of help!!!!!
So I've completed my belt rig.
I'am happy with how its turned out.
Can I make a sort of Beskar wrap for the holster to disguise it from being mill/Tac.? and what do you suggest to weather the whole thing now?

Is it light paints on dark materials & dark on lights. Or just plain old moist garden dirt scrubbed in then brushed off.
How is everyone weathering these items.
Please bear in mind that my kit is well worn n grimmy.

As always any feedback, comments and suggestions most welcome.

Cheers

Put it on a cord and drag it behind the bicycle a few miles. Then some pewter paint lightly with a rub to remove most. You can use real dirt, too, but you'll have to reapply.

Look at an old pair of boots, or that wallet you've had since secondary school. Inspiration is everywhere!

Hey Vod, here are some references to my brother's kit which was heavily weathered and may help you in weathering your own waist items.  Original WIP for reference here Gravlax Nor'nadula

Update 8/24/19

While weathering some other parts of this kit I noticed that the gloves also needed to be weathering.  Using mist of black spray paint and acetone the gloves slowly turned into a weathered pair.

The girth belt used a similar approach with mist of black spray paint but then used actual dirt to rub into the black spray paint.  Then later used acetone to remove some of the black paint away.

The pouches were used with a fine layer of tan/almond spray mist and then the pouches were rubbed in the dirt.  Same with the black belt.

Then a layer of black spray paint was used.  Everything was wiped with a rag of acetone, which weathered the actually leather quite well.  Giving the leather an aged look.

Glad to have helped, you must have warmer weather than us here in North Dakota.  ;)
