Premade Flight Suits
« on: Jan 24, 2023, 01:31 PM »
Super easy question, I hope. I am going to be posting the sketch of my idea once I've finished drawing it up, but I was just wondering in terms of buying a premade flight suit, rather than making my own (going to be making the armor, props, and everything else), but saving time on this is kind of the only way I can have this done in this century.
What I was looking at was this: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1176444952/new-boba-fett-flight-suit?click_key=ce9b6eba484b387cbb38706010d4e46801b385fa%3A1176444952&click_sum=20fe60cd&ref=user_profile&pro=1&frs=1

Now, what I'm looking for is a yes or no, but if anybody wouldn't mind answering if no, then WHY. Not arguing, I'm looking for understanding. There's a lot of rules, I have a wretched combination of horrid ADHD, a new son, and an extremely mentally-demanding job that have me pulled in more directions than I care to admit.
I'm hoping to be posting with the sketch of my upcoming project.

I think it's pricey when all you really need are a work shirt and matching pants.

Depending on the era you are going for (Modern or PI) the "skirt" may or may not work.

It's nice, for sure...

So, for premade outfits, I'm definitely a little skewed on how much things cost. I came from a Rennie background where good stuff was expensive, so this wasn't really anything outrageous to me. For me and my lifestyle, the fact that it would shave a significant amount of time off of my workload is kind of what I'm focused on (though I hope that doesn't come off as arrogant, that isn't my intent when I say that).
I was looking at a PI-era suit, so are you saying that it wouldn't work for that particular timeline? In the end, that's fine. While I like the little skirt pieces because I like that aesthetic, I'm not married to them, so I can look at something else.

I just reread the PI CRL and it says kamas are allowed; not sure if the one on your selection is heavy enough or not.

This is when you need to reach out to your clan, especially the Ruus team, and get the lowdown from those who know.

Hey MortiousPrime

Looks really nice..... However there's No way I could pay the price.
There's loads of info out there to either copy or make your own at a fraction of the cost.

I'am no OM just a foundling and it's fun and frustrating on times making my own, unique to me and my suit.

As Jethroskull has stated.... speak to your clan.... Oodles of help and support there.

Look forward to what you've got planed.

Cheers

As others have said…check first with your Ruus. That said depending on skills, time etc buying a suit is an option. I tried making mine first from a basic costume store suit, then scrubs and eventually had one made. I gave my measurements and still had to do some adjustment/tailoring. Check the CRL for your build, ask your clan mates, Ruus and go from there. Personally I have limited sewing skills/equipment so buying a suit worked for me. One thing that I did not think about when I had mine made wast the stitching. My suit is black and I picked a nice bright blue stitching. Well that all was covered with weathering. Also black can be a struggle to weather, but after some trial and error and asking for help I figured it out a little. Hope this helps and cannot wait to see your build.
