Bo Katan & Armorer WIP
« on: Jul 27, 2022, 08:57 PM »
Hi! I'm new here. I have used this site as a reference for some time, so thank you to everyone who asks questions and shares their expertise. But, this is my first post. I have posted in the Facebook groups, and was encouraged to start a thread here. These will only be my 4th & 5th armor builds, and my 1st Star Wars cosplay. So, I will need all the help I can get! I usually struggle with attachment and making cosplays that are con-comfy. I love wearing armor, can handle 8 hours in leather and chainmail, but have never worn a mask at a con so that will be new.

I'm currently working on Bo Katan and The Armorer from The Mandalorian TV show. My progress photos are attached.

For Bo, I am obsessed with putting LEDs everywhere. A screen on each gauntlet, LEDs for the whistling birds, lights on the headband, and some orange lighting in the jetpack thrusters. Is that going to be overkill for her? I guess I want to do everything for Bo, go all in. Voice amplifier. Servo motor for her rangefinder, with LEDs. Am I missing anything? Is there anywhere else I could put lights? I intend to go heavy on the weathering, and am hoping I can finish painting everything in 4 weeks.

For The Armorer, I just want to keep things simple and screen accurate.

I am currently learning the nuances of Montana Gold paint and it is a hate-hate relationship. I have an airbrush, but prefer using rattle cans for the base layers and for covering large pieces. I am on my second coat of Shock Black for Bo's helmet. Sanded the first because I had so much splatter. Then sprayed from too far away on the second. So I will sand the second coat and hopefully, the third coat of black is a charm. Then comes the chrome.

I started with the helmet because it has the most complicated paint job. I'll move to the shoulders next, then the remaining blue armor, then the rest, saving the Westars for last

All armor is from Mystery Makers files, printed and finished by me.

I'll post my soft parts separately.

Put some tea on. These builds are gonna take a minute.

Maybe she's born with it...maybe it's MANDALORE!
