Oya!

And handful of my clanmates and I have all opted to create color coordinated kits, one part team building and one part cause it would be awesome.
Most of my concept nailed down, minus a few smaller details. But I'll iron those out as the build comes together more.

Will be updating on my clan page regularly, but will share here as well for anyone interested outside the clan. You can find other members participating in this project on our clan page as well:

https://mandalorianmercs.org/forum/index.php?topic=239463.msg2433747#msg2433747

Build:

Here is what I've lined up, mostly Alter Ego parts since they're both clean prints and match up very well.

- Banshee bucket, chest and back
- TH-1 Thigh set
- AEA Shin set
- Shoulders from Hosk Workshop

Love that we get asymmetrical options and variatoins with almost every piece of armor.

Color concepts:

Hardest part for me was the color scheme; we have specific color choices but no determined color mapping akin groups like Death Watch. We wanted to keep the palette the same, but allow the individual's style to show through while maintaining an overall aesthetic.

With this armor style having so many angles, I aimed to see how well the colors could be placed side by side without leaning too hard into one design.

Flightsuit was secured months ago, I bought it two sizes too small in hopes of 'earning' it.
Armor attached using the battle tested method of pins/locking caps (thanks again Vercopaanir :like:)

Shin armor shaped and attached to a set of leather spats that I've tweaked:

First base coats laid out:

Pouches for the belt, made with the assistance of fellow clanmate:

All feedback appreciated.

Got some feedback on the chest armor and it was pointed out that it was a little to wide. However, I was able to get it shape to my form better and it sits much better on the flak vest

Got the armor and bucket ready for paint, did a bit of masking to outline some smaller details.

Some stenciling for the kill stripes.

Opted to use a stencil for the triangle motif that we're all utlizing on our chest armor.
It has a graduated curve akin to an arrow head and wanted the sides to match up closely, but also not a appear to machined.

I drew the pattern over the armor itself to insure a good fit and to keep it centered

With the design cut, I adhereed it to a piece of posterboard to keep it ridgid when cutting close to the edges. This method allowed me to have a postive/negative version of the same stencil; just in case another clan mate needs help on their armor (or in case I fudge it and need to make another )

After setting the cutout to the armor and securing it with masking tape, the only thing left to do was paint. It was hit with 1 medium coat and 2 light coats, which gives it a layer of yellow to work with when time to chip and weather.

I am very impressed with this suit, and I admire the creativity and team spirit behind your coordinated kits project with your clanmates.

Much appreciated, vod. It's definitely been a great experience working with this many clan mates to coordinate the squad aesthetic.

Dialed it back from the armor for a bit and moved on to some of the leather parts.
I designed a few templates using Bo Katan's Post Imperial belt as a visual guide. Wanted to try something I've not made before and her segmented style is awesome.

The templates helped make quick work of the cutting and stitch guides. After cutting  and stitching both stitch lines I glued them together and let them set for a few hours.

Once they were glued securely, I stitched the two pieces together for each segment, followed by sanding and burnishing the edges.
Each belt segment is secured with a two loop D-ring and Chicago screws.
The buckle I resized for a larger belt and 3D printed using resin, PLA+ and PETG. The former two are much stronger at the belt loop than the resin piece.

A test fit of the belt before securing the Chicago screws with thread lock.

Nice! I love the belt. Plus, I just bought a huge roll of veg-tan leather from Tandy, so looking for ways to use it

Ohhh yeah! :like:

By the way, I find it fascinating how well the Hosk shoulders line up with the AEA Banshee set... almost like they were made for each other

Oh, and question: I assume you printed the chest plate yourself, and if so, how did you orient it and what printer did you use? I've got The Mythosaur Project with a 500x500x500mm build volume, but it is a bedslinger... I'm currently assessing stable slicing orientations for my Din Djarin-style chest and ab plates.

Much appreciated. And I agree, they're well profiled for AE's buckets. A lot Hosk's files work well with Riley's.

For the chest plate, I oriented at 45 degrees and printed from the top down on a CR10. That said, I'd advise that the chest plate is a bit oversized so there is some wiggle room to reduce it (I'm 5'9" 185lbs). If I were running it again, I'd print at 93-95% range.

Thanks dude! I hope it does turn out awesome. It's been great fun buiding, trying to keep at it to keep the other clan mates motivated in the project.

Looks like a squeeze; I think the Din Djarin type chest is a bit wider in proportion than the Banshee set, but I've got both an Ender 3 Max Neo (300x300x320mm) and a CR-10 S5 (500x500x500mm). If I can't get it to fit on the Ender 3, I'm sure the S5 (The Mythosaur Project) can handle it XD. Thanks! I was almost going to try aligning it to the X-axis, or to the Y-axis, but 45 is a nice compromise and should spread out the force of momentum across the model while giving it a more stable base. Thank you!

And good luck (and good job) with your kit!  :like:

BTW, if you haven't already, I would suggest checking out Orca Slicer. The tree supports seem like they'll work well with a helmet; I'll be finding out eventually if they do, since I have two buckets in my print queue.

Appreciate the words and advice, vod! I've used Orca before with a few projects, though tree supports give me grief sometimes .

Really digging the black-on-black look with this kit.
Added a girth belt recently to help cover up the two-piece flight. The test fit with the flightsuit was very snug and sits under the ammo belt comfortably.

Wow. That is a nice belt. Now I want one XD. I can't afford a made one, so I'll probably make my own. Great job, vod!  :like:

I agree, your layering of shades of black looks really good. It fits well in the SW palette.
