A thougt about Flightsuit-Arms
« on: May 08, 2010, 11:17 AM »
We all know  this pleat  around the Overarm of  the Flightsuit from Jango, Boba and even the Deathwatch, right?

Well, couldn't this wrap  being there for practical reasons?  like  These clothes here?

Take  Montross for example

he dont wear arms at this line.

And when i overthink it,   detachable Arms would make sense for a practical orientated Fighter.

When its really hot   and you have to do the thinks you do  in your  Armor or Gear  (any served men will now) -
it's getting  shab'la hot. So, you normaly  wrap you Arms up, so your skin can breath   and  your body  loose temperature  over the uncovered Arms.  - Instead of getting a    sunstroke.

If Boba's fight in ROTJ  would be so quick   i bet he would rip off his arms  and get to the second round.  In the Rest of the Movie he didn't even moved   so tehre was  no need  before.    ;D

Maybe  thats old news... But did anybody  thought about it?

I may  add this feature  to my flightsuit.  ;D

Personal environment controls (Same as high-altitude military flightsuits have, such as for the U2 spyplane)  For Boba on Tatooine, it was a cool 72 degrees fahrenheit. (Mid-20s celsius) inside his suit (For the actor/stuntman, not so much)

Also, for a pragmatic warrior, removing any piece of kit mid-fight is really freaking stupid, because while you're tied up removing it, the other guy's putting 20 rounds in you.

Also, it's a flightsuit (For use in space, see U2 spyplane again), so it has pressure seals, which on Boba would be at the wrist, under the gaunts.  No quick removal there.

As to what the oversleeve is for... no idea.  I'm sure the original costume designer just thought it looked cool. (Or it was an already existing feature on the British coveralls they used for just about every costume)

In the original a costume, and some of the time in the Jango costume, the tubes from the flamer disapear into the pleat. other than that, no ideas.

On my suit and my beloved's suit, I have concealed a panel of mesh at the top of the undersleeves for ventilation. It works, too, and you can't see it at all when the full suit is on.

Basically, I replaced the whole upper section of the underlayer with a fine mesh that doesn't stretch too much, and it ends about two inches or so before the bottom of the over sleeve, so it's hidden. I'll try and get photos if anyone wants them.

Hey, it's okay to be late to the party .. if you are the only one who leaves.

If I were a D&D character, I'd be Lawful Good. Yeah, I'm not much fun.
