Anzati Hunter armour (WIP)

Ner vode,

After much planning and re-planning, I'm finally doing some actual work on my armour.

Due to time constraints I've decided to start small, so first up are my kneepads. I came across a pair of construction kneepads at Home Depot which, while not exactly the SWAT type, are still CRL-compliant IMO (round, smooth finish, two straps). Below are pics of the original product and how they look after I applied my paint pattern (grey base, red stripe, weathering).

As usual, all comments are more than welcome.

Cheers!

And here's my codpiece, following the same colour scheme:

Sorry vod, the knee's are not CRL compliant. If you read the addendum closely you will see that it is painfully explicit in that ONLY that specific type of knee pad will be allowed and it still requires some modding. Those you have picture, like any other real world or sports armor pad, need to be so modified as to o longer be recognizable as the original item. Sorry.

Hmmm.... I see. So you're saying I could still use them as long as I do additional modding? Like adding spikes or something?

Yes, they can still be used but, they'll need more mods than spikes. They basically need to be unrecognizable. I don't know any of the thread links off had. But, if you look through various threads, you can see what has worked for mods or carpenters knee's and what hasn't. If you like the padded base, I would recommend tearing the stitch on soft plate off and puting your own custom plate on it as a start.

OK, fair enough. I'll see what I can do then. BTW, the plate is actually rigid, so maybe something can be done with it...

So all I've got thus far is the codpiece...  ;D

Cheers!

Question about modding: Do they have to be smoothed, even if they are not used on Legacy Era Mandalorians?

Yup, the only reason they are allowed with that minimal amount of modding is because they have a near canon source. Otherwise they would require the same "lots of mods" as any other real world armor to pass.

Thanks for the clarification...it's actually a question I'm asking for Drake, because he's using sports knees as part of his new kit, and I tried to tell him he has to mod them...but you can't tell a 19 year old anything....

I'll show him this thread!  ;)

That's an interesting idea... thanks for the heads-up!

Anyway, it seems that I've got two ways to go in terms of the knee pads... one is to mod the carpenter ones, and the other is to use a pair of Boba knee plates I managed to obtain. The thing is, they're a bit tight when I place them on my knees, and since they're fiberglass, I'm afraid they might break. Any suggestions? Is there some way to attach them to my existing pads, maybe?

Here's a pic (not the ones I have, but identical):
