The black lining is fixed with spray-glue, the inner rings sewn to that. The binders are braided from plastic thread I also used on the kama:

Thanks all!

I actually believe that the artist himself had no idea how the thing REALLY looks, drawing something else in every picture. That made it an interesting challange to nail it down and make it funktional. I still see room for improvement in the front pipe I didn't manage to bend and the clasp in the back is a bit on the small side. It needs to be bigger to clamp down a bieger piece of the rim and lead the water off and over the wrapping. Alternatively, I could open the seam there a bit and let the water drip down at the tip... I guess it's long enough.
