For a Mando those could work.  Not really good for an Imperial Officer though unless you lose the bell.  Hard riding boots are the way to go for those.

What about German Jackboots? I do WWII reenacting (3rd Armored and AfrikaKorps) and was wondering if those would work for an Imperial Officer. I use them with my Mando from time to time, and personally think that they look good with my kit.

The jackboots I bought were East German Officer boots, and only cost $50 USD. ;)

The riding boots were worn by the olive-khaki-uniformed officers, like Tarkin and Piett and Veers. The jackboots were West German Border Guard (Bundeswehr) boots of the 1960s/'70s style and they were only worn by the black-uniformed Stormtrooper officers. Here are mine, thanks to Tomoe (who I still need to repay for shipping costs >_> ).

Those are neat. In that case, the WWII accurate jackboots will not work because they don't have that buckle, and they have a different shape. Oh well, I could always use another set of jackboots.  :D

Thanks Jonah. ;)

Yeah... >_> I asked her to pick them up for me, but hold off on sending them until I could pay for that. And she sent them anyway. Breakdown in communication. I paid for the boots right off, and told her I'd get the shipping amount to her as soon as I could. I hadn't thought it woudl take this long (IRL drama going on since late February that has now, for good or ill, pretty much wrapped up, but she should have her PayPal notification within the next couple hours.

Back on topic -- Drake, do you have pics up of your boots? They might be "close enough" to pass 50st CRL standards.

And Draul -- do those boots you showed in the first post have the cuffs able to flip up? Or are they fixed folded over like that? Swashbuckler-style boots might be nice with armour plates on them... but I'd say in the "up" position. Folded boot-cuffs dont' look very Mando to me (and certainly not Imperial).

I have a pair of the East German Parade boots and they look spiffing with Star Wars costumes like Rebel Fleet Trooper.

However my first Dragon*con I wore them and was staying 5 blocks away from the Hyatt.  I had forgotten I had insoles in them and they pushed my feet up higher in the boot than expected.  End result?  Was not pretty.

Well I, Sir, am your link to all things WWII.   ;D
Here are where I got mine (Guard boots), but they only go to size 11.  :-\

http://www.tridentmilitary.com/German-WW2/Field-Gear-Boots.html

The $500 pair you keep finding are dead-on repros, and usually come in brown. The reason for this is because German soldiers applied black shoe polish to make them black.

I would not suggest you buy any boots that are East German. If you are looking for WWII accurate boots, the EG boots are not accurate at all. They usually have a pebbled finish, where in WWII they were smooth. (As with Imperial Officer boots)

How much money are you willing to pay? The German Guard boots are the closest to WWII era jackboots, so $70 dollars will be the cheapest. I have many more links, but the prices are $200 and up for WWII era repros.  :-[

It is very expensive when it come to German reenacting. I chose Deutsches AfrikaKorps because no one in this area does it, and a bunch of my chums do British (which fought the DAK). The picture shows all of my current gear (except for my helmet and rifle), as the equipment is expensive. Most people tend to steer clear of SS, unless they are "real" Nazis. And by far the most expensive German kit is the Fallshirmjager (paratrooper).

The History Bunker is a great place.

This is the largest forum for reenactors, and also contains all suppliers in the US. You may want to check the links for boots and such:

http://ww2reenactors.proboards.com/index.cgi

Oh, and I bought my uniform from 1944 Newsletter; Luke has the best prices I have seen; I bought my entire uniform (pants, shirt, tunic, hat, and all insignia) for a little over $250. ;)

Hope this helps. :)

A friend of mine is into  Reenacting  WW2    but  makes also  semi-profesional videos  with it  http://www.youtube.com/user/UrlagEntertainments

He knows that  buying  Repro-uniforms  is  too expensive   so  he  make  most  thins himself

The Tunics for example  are mostly  Jackets of the former GDR  but  with some cuts and stiches.  The Effects and Rankbars are mostly made out of cloth and hotglue    or   casted copys  of  original  Effects.  Guns are Woodbuilds  And the rest is Garbage found on Garage Sale.

So in this way he wont spent 600 or 800 Dollars for one complete Gear      morethan 100$  is     unlikely

Hint: Scaring your neighbors by pretending to be a Nazi soldier is probably not a good idea.  They will misunderstand, think you're serious, and then you'll be 'that wierdo Nazi kid' forever.

In context-- like WW2 reenacting-- it's perfectly fine.  but wearing that kind of stuff around the town...  well, not so much.  :P
