Ahem. Let's readdress these points:

1) An App Team member, as well as others, have said mod it or it doesn't fit the time era.

2) Most of those examples do actually have it filled in across the upper chest, ignoring the fact that most of those images are Neos not Late crusaders which is what that helmet is. (ETA to correct era. . .thinking of my own build for a second)

3) Nobody is arguing that whatever is made will not look good. Just that it won't meet CRLs with a straight TK chest plate.

If you don't want critiques, don't post to be critiqued. Plain and simple. And if you aren't making it for CRL purposes, please clearly state so. (And I suggest EVERYBODY stop the personal attacks and, apparently, skipping over posts/content of posts.)

Hey guys calm down a little bit, its not worthy to argue and to get rude!

I found some Pics in the reference pics, posted by A'den himself:

which show imho an equal chestpiece as mine.

I made a mistake to open this thread as a WIP thread, the better way would have been to wait until the whole armor would have been ready, so no one would have even recognized it. Get the thaught out of your mind " its a TK, its a TK, ...." its only a piece of armor which looks nearly similar to the posted pics above.

I wish you luck in modding it, but like everyone (including an app team member) has said, unless the TK plate is modded beyond recognition, you can post reference all you want, it's out of compliance with CRLs. Not saying it will look bad, or ANYTHING like what ANYONE may THINK I said and didn't. But I don't want to see you pump in time, effort, and devotion to something and not have it able to be used at official club events because of that 1 piece.

"nearly similar" is not the same.  It's a TK plate, period.

Instead of trying to take a shortcut, why not design and build your own armor that fits the era and won't get you dinged by the app team?

Nagra, like I said, the chest plate could work, and work really well. It'd just need a few tweaks. And I don't mean wholly fill in the dent. Alter or tweak it so it's not the same as it is now. That dent and the 'pec' boxes pretty much mark out a TK. Do a little bit to one or both, and i'm sure it'd be even better.

Ok, I'm putting this thread on a temporary lock for 24 hours.  Sorry to the original poster and everyone else involved...but we're not going to have fighting like this on our forums.  Everyone has stated their opinions...if the original poster does not take them, move on.  While some folks may be trying to help, in th end it comes down to how the costume is judged at application time.

The behavior of members here is very unbecoming and stuff like this shouldn't devolve into a pissing match.

This thread will be reopened tomorrow July 29, 2010 at 4pm EST roughly.  At that time the discussion will continue in an orderly manner or I will start clipping posts off and assigning personal timeouts to accounts.

Wow, this really devolved didnt' it.  OP posted a WIP, presumably for critique. He got critique which seemed pretty fair accurate and honest and people, other than the OP, came in hard charging and in my opinion elevated this to what it became.

First point, as I always do, I give critiques based upon teh CRL's, not what looks cool etc. Most other people here do as well. A fair CRL based critique was given, take it or leave.

Next, this kit could be used as is however, it wouldnt be classed as KOTOR due to the chestplate and that's explained why. Could a Modern Era Mando have an ancient helmet? Yes, for a variety or reasons. Could an ancient Mando have a chestplate from the future? Not unless they have time travel in Star Wars. Even then why trade beskar for plastoid?

Fact is, as the plate stands it's highly recognizable as a TK chest plate. Period. That's really an unargueable point. The refernces pix shown by the Op[ are out of context as those are Neo Crusaders, not KOTOR Crusaders plus, they aren't similar in appearance to the TK plate. Design yes, appearance, no.

Yes Tomoe, as the Co of the Clan you will dictate what's official or not. However, there always will be events that will need to be Official regardless of your feelings. Plus, as an Alor'ad you have a responsibility to the club and your clan beyond other members to uphold not just the CRL's of the club but, the COC's and the general direction of what is and what's not Mandalorian.

Does Nagra want this kit to be approved? I have no idea. If he does, he needs to heed the advice given. If not, do as you please Nagra. I have no doubt however you go about it it will look good, even uif it's not approvable. But please, brush up on time lines and lore for teh culture so it can at least ne labaled properly as for when it would appear in universe.

I'm glad Tag locked this. When it reopens I seriously hope people can leave it to the armor discussion and leither leave their personal feeling out of it or take it to PM's.

BTW, I modded several posts and deleted several as this thread was pretty cembarrassing. If anyone has a problem with the modded or deletion of their posts, PM me about it. However, I will throw COC violations back at you for it and will push for discipline for said violations.

Thread is now unlocked.  Let's not continue like we were.

To add my .02 cents and then move on...I also agree that an unmodified TK chestplate will not work simply because that specific design is that of a Stormtrooper that wouldn't have existed that far back in time.  If the chest were modified (fill in the gap in the middle?) I believe it would be sufficent enough to make it NOT at TK chest.

While the pictures that Tomoe had posted do show one piece chest armors....they obviously don't look like a TK chest piece.  The telltale signs of it are the squared edges and middle gap.  Most of Tomoe's pictures show curved edges.

That's all I'm going to recommend and with that I'm out of here unless another fight ensues.  Let's keep it civil.

So this is the collage of the right era plates from the picture thread http://mandalorianmercs.org/forum/index.php?topic=12625.0 to have it al on one glimse for inspiration:

Because of the huge variation above and the statement of individiality multiplied by 3 Mio mandalorian armor wearer I think that it would be a good idea to make a setch of the planned modification to check the planning before the actual changes are made.

Our event calendar ist sticked on the clan board for easy access (short link: http://mandalorianmercs.org/forum/index.php?topic=24174.0) Please feel free go over this and PM me which events exactly have to be made official events so we can adress the serious legal issue arising. This is not about costume details or insurance, (we've got that clarified already for upcoming events) and doesn't belong into forum let alone someone's build thread.

I would like, if I may, to note that I wouldn't recognise a TK chestplate if it was stapled to my own chest.   :D
I wonder how much like a TK plate it would look in the overall costume.  ???

Um, are the shoulder bits different? And if so why?
(Just curious :D)

just heat the edges of the TK chest and round out the corners

like I said, rather than leave it as is, take a couple hours and use it as a base and mod it enough to match one of the ones in the pics posted above. no worries.
definitely don't just shrug off the advice of all these seasoned costumers tho, no matter how acceptable you think it is

That would be a homerun there ner'vod! Unless you told them in started as a TK plate or they new in advance, I don't thinkl it will be seen at all. Definatly looks like it's own beast and fits the era.

Also, the leather parts make it fit better in the crusader style.
