Polycotton & Nomex Flight suit
« on: Aug 23, 2010, 03:02 AM »
Why I asked I don't know, because i should anyway even if i know the answer.

Nomex looks way too hot, way way too hot to be trooping in, should I just stick with the poly cotton?

Nomex and polycotton are almost the same.  The key thing about nomex flightsuits (I wear one for a living) is that they are designed to resist high temperature heat and not melt to your skin.  So, if you think you'll be trooping in and out of burning flames, nomex may be the way to go, otherwise polycotton is probably the better option.  As far as looks go, the nomex is just a touch stiffer at first and looks a bit more authentic, but not so much that you should really care.

awesome, thanks.  yeah my father is a Firefighter but you don't want to bother the old man when he's sleeping. I once walked a morning xmas parade in full fire gear including tank and helmet.  i had to refill my camel back 3 times to keep from  dehydrating!

I wear my  old issue CVC suit ( combat vehicle crewman ) and it's made from nomex, I love it! it's very light weight and very rugged. I highly recommend them if durability and comfort are an issue ( they have a pull down flap in the seat area for utilizing the latrine and the double zipper makes it fairly easy to take aim  ;)  )
