I can add in some wisdom  ;D

For blaster hole what i did on my cape i used to use is i lit a candle and then held a flat area of the material over the flame and left it burn through. It looks awesome when its done. Looks like a real blaster bolt went through it cause its all burnt and crispy on the edges.

Same here , i rubbed it with sandpaper too then kicked it over the hedge and gave it to the dog for a quick shake  ;D

I wanted to take a flame to my fabric, but I don't really know what it's made of. The brown panel is cotton, but I have no idea what the green stuff is. I have a feeling that it'd all flare up and leave me with a hunk of melted plastic stuff instead of a cape.

Hey all,

Thanks for all of your help in getting me to this point. I'm very excited to now be an official member!

There is (and always will be) a lot of tinkering to do with this kit, but I've reached a huge milestone. Thanks to all of you for the advice-- You have really helped me come a long way! I can't wait to work out new ideas with all of you. :)

I love the whole prize ribbon thing, too funny! I think it was definitely a clever solution to the problem you encountered with using the mannequin form, great way to think outside the box. Just another idea for you, when I distress fabric I have this small hybrid of a cheese grater/zester thing that works great ripping up edges or putting holes into fabrics. Then I use permanent ink pads or watered down craft paint with a triangle makeup sponge to apply it. I also use a soldering iron for small controlled burn holes. Love the colors you choose to do with this kit, it’s very striking.

I love the colors you used for your kit and I think your chest diamond idea was ingenious!  I also really like how your gloves pull out the color of your belt.

Thank you, Seugtal and Kione!

I think that the addition of that tan belt really helped the gloves make more sense. Before, they really didn't seem to fit in.

When I first cut out the strange chest diamond, I wasn't too sure that it would work out. When I got the pieces on my vest, though, I was very impressed at how it all came together. Mannequins are a pain, because their proportions typically only reflect a very minute percentage of people.

Using sponges and ink for weathering is a great idea! I might go in on my cape a little bit more. I'll have to keep that technique in mind!

Vhe Oyre linked to this in her awesome updated Female Armor Resources thread. I should get my shebs into gear and share some things that are at least almost current, huh?

Back in 2012, I met Viradechtis at a Wampa Clan armor party. She had a very awesome idea for some paneled plates! She had very elegantly achieved what I had tried so hard and failed to do with my very first kit. Inspired, I decided that I was going to do the rational thing and... start all over again, totally from scratch. Vira even let me use her idea. Thank you, Vira! :)

Click here for a template of the chest plates!

And I was going to get it finished for Celebration VI.

Because it was such a quick build, I didn't stop to take many photos. I'm regretting that now! Here's what I could dig up:

This was the obligatory "AH I HATE IT I'VE DONE IT ALL WRONG" grumpy phase.

An early picture of the painting phase of my J2P.

My girth belt is actually three belts, tied together!

And now I look like this!

Dang, it feels good to be a Mando.

Only one comment to the last picture: "Pew, pew!"

I like the armour re-design

This is a great kit. And the j2p conversion is spot on. Have you thought of applying to the beastmasters brigade? With all that fur you could be a wampa hunter...

Thanks, everyone! :)

I love the Beastmaster Brigade! I haven't really gotten around to making the necessary modifications to my armor and weapons quite yet. I'm still trying to figure out if this particular trade can be made to work with my character's backstory somehow, I think!

Also, the new kit couldn't be much more different from my other kit... Except for the parts that are identical to my other kit.

I've been making some really small modifications here-and-there to my armor. This will be the first major overhaul of my white kit.

The next version will have a back plate and a furry half-cape. Aside from that, the adjustments I'll be making to will be minor. I'm going to revisit things like the belt configuration and my knees, since these parts like to shift around as I wear them.

These templates are a work in progress. I'm still working on getting the back plate where it needs to be. Stay tuned! :)

Oh interesting, looks like you've modified Vira's templates a bit.  How does that affect the shape and placement of it?

Also: redo whoop!  Should be fun ;D
