So, I've been doing some research into the backpack.  I've realized, the pack itself makes little sense.  You know, like what are the rockets for?  Do they launch or must you take them out?  Are those missiles on the outside or what?  Then I realized, it just didn't matter because it looked cool.  So, I have my drawing program up and I'm deconstructing the McQuarrie bust and some McQuarrie drawings.  The bust backpack is much larger than the McQuarrie drawing.  So, I've opted to go for something in between.  I've got the PVC pipe for the large "missile" holder.  Its a four inch.  And it has an end cap so I should be good there.  (Pictures will be coming later.)  The other PVC pipe is fairly inexpensive and my brother has some down the street.  My current hang up is the pack base.  I've got some ideas, but after studying the pictures, it is gonna be a bit more difficult.  But that makes the challenge even more fun to attempt.

So, here's my blueprints.  I'm heading out to cut the larger pipe and work on getting the prepped.

(Yeah, I have too much time.  My Paintbrush version is much simpler and easier to study.)

I got lucky on some PVC pipe I had from several years ago.  So all I need now is the 3/4 or 1" for the "outer rocket" looking things.  Still don't get what that's about.  I've also decided to create my own box out of 6mm and 3mm Sintra using some wood working techniques.  I'm just not finding the kind of base I need.  And, I'm not too keen on fiberglass.  But we'll see.

I'll be watching this, I was planning on creating the almost exact same backpack, and found this thread. I think it'll come out really interesting.
PS: Reminds me of the ace pack off SWG...

I'll make sure I keep detailed plans so others can learn from it.  Especially for my Washington neighbor.

I also love your state's new motto"

Never heard that motto... The recent one I've been hearing a lot on the radio is the "Wash-your-hands-ington" Commercial. And thank you for the plans, I've come up with some of my own as well...

Would you mind putting them up here?

My biggest hurdle is my own pride and vanity.  I have the McQuarrie bust but haven't had it out of the box.  I just can't bring myself to do so.  I could and then study it....  Oh the agony!

Well, it's mostly sketches right now... Trying to find something that looks good, and has a nice feel as well as weight to it. I've come up with a possible way to make it actually hold things.

Do tell!  I'm working on using it for providing power and air to my helmet.

I'm sketching out now, If you can tell me what that big circular thing is, on the right top side with the antennae sticking out of it, Or what you plan to use it for, as it stumps me.

My best guess is that it is a missile launch system or a perhaps even a quiver of sorts.  Not really sure.  I don't know if McQuarrie even knew...

What I'm using is 4" pvc.  I happened to have some lying around from a previous home improvement project.  And, I forgot it had an end cap.  Score!  My other option wasn't looking to promising monetarily wise.  It won't like identical, but it will be close.  My next step is to use 3/4" or 1" pvc  for the outside "missile looking things".

Here's the "quiver" as it is now.  It is cut to length and will be adding a sentra cover to it.

Hmm, I guess that works. Now that you mention it, I could have it me a... Ammo storage compartement... and the top will pop off. Back to the drawing board for me. Oh and since I can't upload, here's how I thought about making the main part hold things. Picture it motly as a shield if you will. Then make it so that some way it'll lock into place, and you can easily remove it, and put as many things in there as you'd like.
After I posted it, I realized how hard it would be to come up with a possible object for that "quiver" So in my new sketch, I'm going to remove it totally.. making it more unique.
(My concept, might as well be called a marine pack from swg.)

Sounds good.  I think mine's going to be as close as possible but with my own spin on it.  It is definitely a good inspiration.  Now, had I decided to go with an actual McQuarrie Proto-Fett, then I definitely would.  And who knows, maybe someday I will.
