The strap has the same treatment.  May not be as noticeable.  I can do a tutorial no problem.  Will be fun.

I'm sorry I wasn't clear, I was referring to the straps that attach to the belt and the one that goes around your leg. They look like they might be nylon strapping right now. Are you leaving those as they are or are you giving them the same leather look as the strap that you added to the holster?

Thank you, I look forward to seeing that.  ;D

I see what you're saying.  They're actually canvas.  The problem w/ the vinyl is in long strips, it loses the look because it does't bend right.

Well, thanks to Bazii's inspiration, I am now about 85% complete on my holster.  Need to add some straps basically.  This will be a drop leg or thigh style holster when complete.

Glad my idea inspired you there...  I will say that you did a much better execution of the idea than I did though.  lol  ;D

It looks great!!

Finished(?) my cod piece and attached it to my gun.  So, here's the set up as it currently stands.  My only question is do I use strapping to attach the bottom part in order to keep it in place better? (see picture with red circle.)  Thoughts?

So, I come in from my shop wearing my cod piece.   You know, testing fit and comfort after adding the bottom strap.  My 6 year old daughter starts giggling and asks if I'm wearing my costume's underwear!

I bought it about 2 years ago online.  Its a Yugoslavian Bandolier.  I've tried to find it just recently with little success.  I love the look of them as they are nice and aged.  (About 30 to 50 years old I believe.)  If I can find them again, I'll put up a link.

Found it!!  I thought it was Yugoslavian... its actually Swedish... Standby and I'll add a link in a bit.

OK...  found a link, but WOW, the prices have gone up considerably!  $46.00 if you can believe it.  I swear I only paid like $5 or $10.  Seems like they are also used for the Prequel Tusken Raider as well as Steam Punk and other costuming.  So, my guess is supply has gone down because demand has gone up.  Simple, basic economics has struck again.  I'll continue in my quest to provide that tasty nugget of knowledge.

That's hilarious, but I can see why she would think that.

Looking better with every update, man!  You certainly know how to make a kit look great.

Thanks Val.  I think a lot had to do with I was wearing it over my jeans and didn't have my pouches or holster attached.  So, it looked pretty silly.

And thanks for the compliment.  I'm trying to go for a very nitty gritty down and dirty kind of kit.  My concept is the guy just about will kill anything for any price.  (Sentient species carrying the highest.)  But he prefer big nasty beasties.  I'm using The Predator as a model in some ways along with Native American, Aborigine and other ancient culture aspects as well.  I also found a picture on a book cover that gave me some ideas as well.

So, its fun getting it put together.  Now I just have to muddy and dirty up the flight suit.  It looks WAY too clean right now.

Sticking with the leather feel to my kit, I am now in the process of making "leather" or "nerf hide" spats.  These are only in the beginning stages.  Straps will be added to keep them on, the faux leather "treatment" will be added to make them match my other leather bits.

These were inspired and patterned after some WWI leather spats I have.  They are in rough condition and I didn't want to damage them.  So I made my own.

Here's what I have so far.

(Back for reference.  They are from my ever present and dwindling supply of 6 inch PVC pipe I have.)

I plan to add a "knife" sheath to one side and possibly a hold out holster to the other.  But I am now out of vinyl and will need to make a trip to Joanne's.  (Which will terribly upset my wife as she simply HATES going there.  ;)  And... sharing this little nugget of humour with my wife, she has since informed me the vinyl is %50 off.  See... she simply hates that place.  )

Thoughts, comments, concerns?

I'm quite enjoying the leather theme you're keeping with this kit.  Perfect for the hunters Mandos started out as.  Your kit continues to inspire and awe those fortunate enough to behold it.

Thanks to both of you!

I plan on bringing some elements into my gauntlets too.  Speaking of which... do you think it would be too much if I made them in the same style?  With some added tech to them?

That depends.  If it's solid leather, like the boiled type, then it MAY be sturdy enough for the tech and weapons mounted on it.  I've never made leather gauntlets, so I'm unsure.  I would think that leather might tear or warp when supporting most gauntlet accessories, but you might prove me wrong.

I think if you wrap pvc like the shins it could work.

That was the thought.  Wrap the PVC gaunt in the vinyl and then, any tech would be attached. Though I'm still contemplating how.

Oh, okay.  Forget what I said earlier, then.

Perhaps some bolts protruding through drilled holes in the vinyl? With some kind of reinforcements in the holes, to keep the vinyl from tearing in that area.

Wouldn't those be more like shin guards?  Or am I just that tired right now?

Regardless, they still look great.  You're quite skilled in vinyl work.
