Boot options
« on: Oct 12, 2011, 05:35 AM »
So first off I'm willing to spend a good amount of money on boots.  I have foot problems (had a small bone removed from bottom of right foot) and must use my feet to make a living, literally.

So with that in mind I've found two pairs of boots I really like so far.  One is the pair of tanker boots that someone else posted up in another thread.

I also really liked the Dr Martens here.

Unfortunately they are out of my size, but even in theory I think I'm moving away from them.  If they were still 50 bucks I'd go for it, but in the 100 dollar range I'll go up just a little for something like the tanker boots that have all the sizes including width.  I would definitely cross over with wearing those boots for other purposes if they really are that good.

So is there anything else in that price range that you guys have found that you really liked, or I am on a really good path with the tanker boots?

I don't see a real problem with the top one, although i personnaly think it's too much. I would prefer the doc martin. it's a claener, simpler design and would be better for mounting armour.

Well I don't think I'm going to be able to get a Doc Marten in a size that works, so I'm off looking for alternatives unless a new batch comes in.

I'm find with simpler like the Doc's, but I want high quality fit and comfort.  Perhaps there are some variations of the tanker boots that would fit the bill.

EDIT: So there are jump boot versions here, they just have laces instead of those straps.

I would cover the laces with ankle/shin armor anyways so perhaps there is a better choice.

Just got to throw it out there but there is a big difference between regular boots & tanker boots from a professional level.

By big difference I am interpreting your meaning to be in quality.

If that is correct then that is exactly why I'm looking at those.  For 30 more dollars of the Doc Martens I can get some serious boots.  The airman boots are almost the same as the tanker boots, just laces instead of the straps and buckles.  I'll be covering the laces with armor anyways so I think those are my top option right now.

Those boots are fine too, as long as you follow the same rules i stated earlier.  ;)

Its pretty much just cover the laces as far as specific guidelines go right?

I just have to figure out how I want to mesh the boot and shin armor, since they are going to be striking surfaces for kicks, not just armor plates.

Yes, aslong as the laces are covered, you can add what you want with armour.

If the price is an issue this won't have any bearing, but I own 2 pair of docs for personal use, and they tend to run a bit big. I would suggest finding a shoe store near you (Jouneys usually have some if you have a local mall with one) and try some on, you may find a size that fits you.
