Oryans first modern mando WIP pic heavy
« on: Nov 01, 2011, 01:31 PM »
OK  so here it goes ....... thanks to falin for the helmet and redkraytdragon for the armor as well as Jarek Tahl-Tracyn for the vest .....

helmet thread:   http://mandalorianmercs.org/forum/index.php?topic=44617.0

i started on the helemt already in another thread .. to get the basic color concept... im going with the raised mythosaurus armor ..

im doing the skull red on the helemt and chest piece.. and silver outline on the armor .. and all black soft parts .. and main color being a ppg paint called harlequin .. it changes colors from the blue-to dark purple hues ...

im still waiting on  the black gun belt to arrive as well as the flight suit .....

i decided to use snake guards for the shins and top of boot covers.. i plan on dying them black and covering them in armor

any htoghts and concerns let me know please ill update as soon as things change

I shall be following this one with great interest......... the changing color paint is something I have thought of before.

I use Rustoleum's version of that same paint as my accent color; dunno how much the Harlequin costs, but the Rusto Galaxy Blue is about $15-20 a can, and with a proper black base coat, a single can will do a whole suit.

Looks like you've got a decent start here; was going to make a comment about the shin guards, but then saw that you're going to paint and armor them. They'll make a good base, and solve the ever troublesome 'how-to-mount-shin-armor' problem.

Looks good and your plan is solid, but I think your gun is a little too earthy. I'd like to see you Star Wars it up a bit.

i have done a ton of reading and info searching before i started .... yeah i know that paint i happin to have soem extra left from another project .. i own a bike shop and have become known for using that color its a great seller and just loosk freakin cool...

the shin thing yeah i wanted my armor to have depth and real world feel to it.. and when ever i look at mando pics and even swg ... it seemd like the boot armor was thicker and more pronounced .. like it had a function.. wich is what im goign to try and pull off with this set...

^ This.

Sidearm definitely needs some more swarzing to it. All the rest looks really nice. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

paint looks good, but I would integrate the memory card more into it, so it is not recognizable.

The 92s are actually very customizable (as long as you don't want it to fire anymore :P). I'm not a huge fan of open circuit boards, myself. If I were doing one of these, I would probably build something to completely obscure the upper portion (slide). Maybe add a "box" around it that flows with the optics mount. Maybe make it in a few layers to get some cool areas for shadows and weathering. Then add some greeblies to that. And maybe add a small pistol scope (one with a bell on only one end)...cuz I love scopes :P. Maybe even add some strips of windshield wiper blade to the silencer to get that whole Boba vibe going.

I may have to pick one of these up one day and play around with it. It just screams possibilities.

Gotta agree with Bedlam about the circuit boards. We like to push 70s sci fi tech. If you go back and watch the old movies, the only circuit board you ever see on Boba Fett is the one behind his keyslots. Gluing circuit boards to things doesn't necessarily make it techy. In this case, I'd say mull it over a bit and try something out of the box.

Here's a really great example of how to greeblie up a pistol: http://mandalorianmercs.org/forum/index.php?topic=44286.0

Might give you some good inspiration for your build.
