No prob! I hate bursting people's bubbles, but at the same time I wish I would have had some input on some of the things my first kit was dinged for. It's a double edged sword!  :P

Yeah, I always appreciate that kind of stuff.  I apologize in advance if I ever sound testy.  I've had the bulk of my kit done for quite a while, it's just all the little thing I keep having to change.  It's getting very frustrating but I'm sticking with it. :)

Here's a pic with the sleeves removed.  Tried it one with the vest, helmet, and belt and it looked pretty awesome!  What do you guys think?

I think this is a great idea! A suggestion though; if you're willing to cut the duster, try putting slits in the sides for your belt, then, you could thread it through in such a way that the belt was on top of the jacket and holding it in place in the front, but was under the jacket and thus not visible in the back. Also, you coule use the sleeve meterial to sew a belt loop or two on the back of the inside of the jacket, to futher help keep it in place.  ;D
Hope this helps! And I'm sorry this has been such a hassle, but take heart! I think the end is in sight. -sage nod-

Thanks ner'vod.  Those are modified nerf axes.  I make and sell the in the trading station.  Though there is some question of whether or not it is modified enough to meet CLRs.  The local guys don't think it iw different enough but I have not heard one way or the other from approval guys yet.

Could you PM me some pricing please!!

Individual are $40 + shipping and  pair would be $60 + shipping.  Shipping is generally $12 - $16 just because of the odd length of the item.  You can see that and more items at www.facebook.com/MandalTechArmory :)

So, with all of the changes to my kit and different weapon ideas and whatnot, I've decided to make a fundamental shift in who Beviin Kal is.  Rather than a blades expert, I think I'm going to go with a more traditional blasters specialist.  I want to make Beviin a Mando gunslinger, sort of like the old western gunslingers in temperament and attitude.  Sort of a cocky gun for hire with the skills to back up the swagger.  Losing the battle hatchets and adding the duster really pushed me in that direction.  Plus, losing the thigh and shin armor makes the kit look more like a light armor fighter that relies more on agility and mobility than armor, which is something that would fit a gunslinger, I think.  For those of you that are familiar with Firefly/Serenity, I'm thinking a Mandalorian version of Mal with a little bit of Jayne mixed in; more or less.

What do you guys think?  Any suggestions on how to bring the gunslinger look to life with my kit?

Added a little extra color to my kit and added some light weathering.  It's hard to tell in these pics because of the lighting, but a LOT of the shiny effect has been rubbed off.  It's really hard to tell on the helmet, but there are spots where it's been rubbed down considerably to look like Beviin's had some close calls and some scrapping.  Let me know what you think.

might be the pics , but I am not seeing the weathering or closecall/scrapping marks you are speaking of, I really like your kit, but IMO I think it would really stand out with some deeper weathering and blackwash!! I am new at this , and may be wrong, but beat that thing up some !!  :D

yeah, it's really hard to tell in the pics because my lighting is weird.  It doesn't look terribly beat up or anything, but it does look faded in areas where the armor would scrape against things and rub against the duster, etc.  the helmet has some really worn down spots on it where you can start to see the silver finish underneath too.  I don't have any "battle damage" except for on the right chest plate towards the ab plate.  There is a spot where it looks like some molten shrapnel hit the plate at some point.  There is also a small spot on the ab plate towards the right side where it looks like it's been hit and touched back up with some kind of metal patch kit.

I know alot of folks like to weather the heck out of their kits, and I may add more weathering down the road, but I really do like the look of a clean kit.  As much as I dislike Jango Fett, his kit is a good example of that clean but lived in look.

Yeah, I think they look great on some kits for sure!  I always admire a nicely beat up kit.  Just want to leave mine mostly clean for now. :)

So, I just ordered a set of leather gauntlets from viciousvestments.  They are just solid leather with three d-ring straps.  Very simple, but I think they fall in line with the gunslinger persona I am trying to establish for Beviin.  As much as I hate to give up the TK gaunts, cause I think they looked bad-A with my original melee/brawler concept, I think leather will be better for my new design concept.

This still leaves the knees as the point of my confusion and frustration.  I just do not like the look of the boba knees and my latest knee design just looked horrible after it was painted.  So, I am left with the same old dilema of what to do for my knee armor.  I do have a backup plan of ordering some deathwatch knees off the trader here, but I want to do something different if at all possible.  Something that says gunslinger a little more than the standard plates.  Any ideas?

Picking one of these up tomorrow to modify into a slug thrower.  Any suggestions for modifications?

I think maybe something like a leather action Dresselian rifle:

I really like the idea of the gunslinger mando; less original, but it fits with the duster very well. Fits in with the whole Cad Bane feel. ;D
I also really like what you did with the collar and ab pieces, the stripes add a whole lot more character to the piece, and it's naturally slimming. (Not saying you're big or anything, it just does that. Which often looks better with dusters.)
As for the gun, I would tie the two barrels together, since a lot of the star wars guns are bulkier. (especially the 'older' ones) I would also try to find a larger scope if you can, in no small part due to the fact that I have found it's really hard to put the gun close enough to your eye to use the scope if you're wearing your helmet. So get a bigger scope, and what's more rais it up off of the gun by a couple inches, perhaps building the gun up to that height, that way you can still see through the scope when you're fully kitted up. Another thing you might consider, is turning the lever into a handle, like in the picture you've provided.
Also, don't be afraid to add some greeblies, lights, ammo clips, and maybe some kill tallies on the sides of the gun. And be sure to weather to tip of the barrel, because no matter how well you take care of a gun, if you're in combat, the paint on the front end will always suffer. =)
Anyhow, looking great vod! Looks like you're getting very close to being ready for membership!

Great ideas here, ner'vod!  Yeah, I have to see how big the scope is in person.  I'm going to cabela's to pick it up today.  If it's too small I may replace it with a red dot sight I already have.  Raising it up a bit is a good idea as is tying the two barrels together.  I was thinking of "sawing it off" so it's shorter and both "barrels" are the same size.  I'm also considering trimming down the stock so it's more like a "Mare's Leg."  Here's an example:

Basically, I'm wanting to take elements from Firefly characters to really round out Beviin and make him look like a Big D*** Hero while staying fully within the Swarsy look and feel.  I definitely do not want it to come across as a cross over.  I want to look more Cad Bane inspired. :)

Other changes I've made since the last post, I swapped out the mesh belt for a leather belt with two buckle holes all the way across it and I got rid of the hammer holders.  I'm also going to make some sintra knees out of 3mm sintra and I'm thinking about covering those in roughed up leather instead of just painting them.  I'm going to go for the deathwatch style of knee plate.
