yay or nay on tranch coats?
« on: May 14, 2012, 11:08 PM »
Hey all, i was rummaging around in my grandmas house today (shes the major sewing and costume lady for my town) and i found a black trench coat. I was wondering if it would be acceptable to use in my kit? I was planning on cutting the sleaves off so most of my armor shows through. If it isnt acceptable then not a big deal but it seemed like a cool idea to me. Any+all info will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Austin

I believe our Mand'alor wears a sleeveless trenchcoat. So should be ok.

I'm doing the same "vest-duster" thing for my kit, and it's OK. Other guys such as Riv Serulius have done similar things as well.

Some pics of the garment would help.

Cheers!

Definitely yay! Drago Seron's v2 had a sleeveless duster/trench coat and I think it really made the kit pop! Of course he didn't like it so much in the warmer months because he would literally bake in the thing. So that is something to consider.

They do work. Avoid the all leather like my old one. It didn't breath and kept the heat in. The big thing between mine and the other examples is they are fabric and held close to the body with the belt.
