Thanks for all the feedback Drak! Do you think the cod piece design would be alright if I shortened it up a bit so that it wasn't rubbing against my thighs? I'm considering draping a cloth over that area anyway, but I can certainly see what you mean by the thigh rubbing being... regretful.

I suppose the choking rule is a good one to live by, noted. I noticed someone had a similar problem, and Falin suggested cutting a line from that outermost corner (near the armpit) to where it needs to match up along the top. Should I do that or just shorten the entire side by what needs to be taken off?

And I've been calling that thing the Jet Back, Thruster Plate, integrated booster system, jump pack, ect... I just need to stick to one name till it sticks. Regardless, I'm glad you like it! And you pretty much summed up my entire thought process on the gaunt housing, thanks for the confirmation, lol.

So my sintra supplier has the most annoying hours, I've been dying to grab some more sintra to start on my gaunts and shnees, but they're closed on the weekend, and they're only open till like 3 on Fridays. I'll be grabbing some more tomorrow, and hopefully I'll have enough time to work on stuff. I would have started on my helmet or weapons this weekend, but between Final's work and my job my schedule's been tight.

I can only echo what everyone else has said. Just make the aforementioned changes and it'll be sharp :)

I'll be watching this with interest. :D

Thanks! I don't have time to actually go and work on it at the moment, although I desperately want to. I do have time for the occasional idea sketch though, I plan on cutting the collar plate up some after I trim my chest down. I'm toying with the idea of angling the side a bit so that the top line matches the collar and the rest of the plate ends up with a slimmer, more angled look to it, and it's growing on me!

Thanks, my build is all about mobility! But were you referring to me cutting down the collar plate or the sides of the chest pieces?

cut the parts at the top so they are flush at the edges with the sides of the colar plate. May want to cut in little scoops to were they cover a little bit of your shoulder as well, so you can bring your arms infront of you a bit easier.

Ok, so after trying to get another sheet of sintra today, I ran into an unforeseen problem, and I'm curious if the guy was trying to scam me or not, so I figured I'd run it by you guys.

My first sheet of sintra was about 4x8 feet (maybe a little less, the guy said it was lightly used) and approximately 3 mm thick, and I managed to buy it for $20 bucks. This was somewhere between one and two months ago, and the sheet has been shared between 4 people, and is pretty much gone at this point.

Alas, we need more to continue, and so I swung by the same shop today with the intent of picking up more sintra, and they wanted to sell me a 4x8 sheet for $85. Now granted, I didn't quite know the thickness I needed (bit of an oversight on my part) so he might have been talking about the 6 mm sintra, but he went on to say that the price of sintra has really jacked up recently. I don't keep an eye on daily sintra price fluctuations, so I was wondering if anyone else had heard of such a price hike.

I will be returning tomorrow to clarify the thickness I need and see if that brings the price down closer to what I was expecting, and I will also be looking into other sign shops to see if I can get a consistent answer, but any information you guys could share on the subject would be great as well!

I wouldn't know Sintra prices-but on a side-note, if you do layered armour, JB-weld or Ethyl2 Cyano-acrylate super glue can bond it nicely I hear-mind you, the surface should be a bit roughed up with sandpaper and all...

Two sheets of 3mm sintra on US Plastics that are 2 ft x 4 ft (total of 4 ft x 8 ft) are about $30. Add shipping and you're at $45 max.  You're getting taken for a ride. Have it shipped to your door.

Thanks BobaFiend, appreciate the info. I've actually been calling around Orlando for the past few hours and found a place that'll sell me a 4x8 3mm sheet for $40.43, I'm about to head out now, and return a rental textbook to my college while I'm out as well. Yay efficiency! Thanks again for the save, and the link!

Ok, so I got a nice 4x8 sheet of 3mm sintra for about $40 the other day, which is the best deal I could find. They seem like a pretty consistent business, and they seemed excited when I told them what it was going to be used for, so I shouldn't have a problem with sintra supply for a while! I haven't really done too much stuff for myself with the new sintra, although I did get a lot of my cyar'ika's armor cut out and shaped with it. Now she just needs to get posting...

Anyway, I plan on using the stuff to cut out my guantlets and shnees, along with my lower back plate. What I have accomplished on my armor since my last post is I got my right shoulder cut out and shaped, and I reshaped my collar piece a bit, and trimmed my chest pieces. Have a look:

Not the best angle, I know. I plan on redoing my ARCish pauldron, along with my cod piece, but they work fine as placeholders right now.

I also started working on my Blastsword, along with the bayonet for my pistol. I know what you're thinking, "What? A bayonet for a pistol!? That sounds like a load of osik!" Good or bad, give me some feedback on this one:

Here's the sketch of it on a piece of 1/2" MDF. For some reason photobucket likes to keep it upside down, but you get a good idea. I plan on adding a thin piece of sintra along the dull side to give it sort of a vibro-greeb look, which you can kind of see the sketch of that here.

And here's a pic of it cut out with some preliminary sanding and set against the pistol:

I still need to do the required editing on the pistol itself, and I need to do some creative sanding to get it to fit flush, but that's the gist of how it would look attached. I plan on hollowing out that lower orange barrel and sticking a wooden dowel in there to help mount the bayonet. Tell me what you guys think, I'll get some pics of the Blastsword progress up soon!

Just looked at those, never knew they existed until you pointed them out! Thanks for the tip, now I don't feel as ridiculous about the bayonet.
