Haha, thanks! Glad you like it ner'vod. And yeah, any Velcro that gets used from now on is being sewn on. We didn't really have the time to sew anything on for this convention, we were REALLY cutting it close on time. My plans for attachment with the new vest include sewing in Velcro to it and adding little pouches for rare earth magnets that will coincide with magnets placed on the actual armor. I've learned the hard way what it feels like to have armor falling off of you, and I will NOT be dealing with it again if I can help it.

What is your vest made out of?  Mine is leather, and all I did was attach the magnets on the inside with heavy duty duct tape!  Have 18 troops and zero fails!

Don't worry Niabi, we know better than to use glue velcro with a  sewing machine, haha. I planned on having the glue velcro on the plates themselves, and getting some proper sew-on velcro for certain points on the vest. Thanks for the compliment, and my lower plate actually fit fine, it's just that in the one picture you see all of it it's caught on a belt pouch and looks funny.

The first vest was this leather knock-off material, but over the course of the day we had to actually glue my plates straight to it to get them to stick and it kind of got, well... ruined, haha. My fiance is making me another vest out of duck cloth, and we did plan on putting some magnets on the inside of it. I like the duct tape idea, we were considering sewing tiny pouches for them, but duct tape sounds easier!

I've loved this melee Mando from the start, I'm glad it worked out so well. I'm contemplating a similar route for my next kit, with the arm and boot thruster idea. We could have our own brigade of melee mandos! Haha

Despite the awful pun, thanks for the compliment! And I haven't checked up in a while, but I seem to recall discussion of some kind of weaponmaster brigade that focused primarily on melee weapons.

If you don't plan on washing it (like with the leather), the duct tape is great!  If you are making it out of something that you will be washing I don't know how that would work.

In other news, last night we added a bit of scuffing and such to my armor, and I do believe I promised pics, so without further ado:













I also added a decal of the BVC logo onto one of my pauldrons!



It still needs a bit of a black wash, and I need to bang up my helmet a bit before I post more pics of that, but that's where my kit stands so far!

Thanks bro, there's still more to do! After I get official I plan on going into some more radical upgrades, including fully enclosed shnees, small thrusters on those, and potentially the elbows of my gauntlets (not sure about those at this point). I'll also be getting a vibroblade on my right gaunt and a datapad (phone case) on my left. I'd also like to get some lights in my thruster pack eventually.

I totally know what you mean Sirus!  I was afraid I'd get to comicon and everything would just fall apart, lol!   I didn't see how you strapped everything in, but I had everything hot glued together and it kept popping off, so I used rivets instead and those straps aren't going anywhere now :-D 

But like anything you never know until you troop, then you'll see what things need to be adjusted

We were wrapping these preparations up like the night before, so we ended up just using the adhesive on the back of industrial strength velcro along with a bit of e6000 and hotglue just to get everything on in time. Needless to say, it didn't work out so well, but with the time frame we had left to work with it was the best we could do. My armor had the most problems, though I was the only one in the group who didn't have a duckcloth vest, mine was a leather-like material, so we're attributing that to the list of reasons why mine failed the most. The fact that I was bending and twisting my torso a lot for poses with my blastsword might have had something to do with it as well.

That industrial strength velcro is awesome, that's how I have all of my armor on my vest attached and it's not going anywhere.  I also have leather-like (kinda pleather) material as my vest as well, I ended up sewing cloth velcro to that so it sticks better.  I don't know how your sewing skills are, but if you can get someone to sew it on it'll stay very well.

As I mentioned before, I planned on asking my fiance to sew some sew-on velcro to my new vest, and we also planned on having some rare-earth magnets duct-taped to the inside of the vest as well. My armor will be going nowhere without my say-so, haha.

As far as my app goes, I plan on doing a group submission with the rest of the Clermont Crew once we all had our necessary upgrades finished. Shouldn't be too long now! Maybe a month, maybe two, I'm not gonna set a definite date down yet, but we're excited for the day!

Typical post-Tuesday update time:

Spent most of the day yesterday focusing on my helmet, banged it up a  bit and added some silver  to make it look a bit damaged.



For that long gash on the right side, I actually took a machete we had lying around and sliced the blade down a bit. I love how that bit came out in particular.



A closer shot of the scratch, the lighting is awful and makes it look kind of wierd, but take my word for it that it looks awesome in person, haha!



For the back of the helmet I tried to make it look like I had been knocked down and slid backwards a bit, and we also took a paint defect and turned it into an impact mark, among other minor scratches and scuffs and such.

I should be getting my hands on some black and brown acrylic paint today to give my stuff a good blackwash to dirty it up a bit, hopefully I'll have updated pics up soon.
