I have the design i want for my flak vest but i am stuck on what material i should use. I want it to look nice yet be a sturdy material. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I use heavy canvas or duck in the ones I make. If the cloth look does not work, you could do a double layer one, inner layer canvas/outer vinyl-pleather (and roast in it) .

I second a cotton duck material. My wife made me mine, it's double layered so it can actually stand up on it's own, even under the weight of all the plates on it. It's a bit warm with the double layer, but not as bad as the guys in pleather! To tell you the truth, as long as I'm not outside in the sun it hardly bothers me at all anymore.

Thanks for the advice. I am almost finished with my vest I'll post pictures in the next few days.
