I wonder if it were more practical to try to find someone with a 3d printer and see if they can scan in your pistol somehow and then print copies of it for you...  just an idea.   

This idea intrigues me. Now if I only had friends with cool things lol

If memory serves correctly, MakerBot is working on perfecting the technology for a 3D scanner as we speak.  Might be a worthwhile investment...

That looks pretty tight but unfortunately I don't have $2,500 just lying around ha  Looks like you have to be fairly good with CAD type programs as well

UPDATE: Found something pretty awesome while looking at the MakerBot stuff. This lady has actually designed some Star Wars stuff for 3D printers and you can download her designs if you have a printer. Check it out

You could always talk to Woodchuck.   Give him enough references he'd probably beable to knock one of those out of wood for ya,  it'd be pricey tho.  how pricey.. you'd have to talk it over with him.  likely not under $150.

I have recently begun cracking down on my kit and also broke down and bought some bondo. I have been playing around with it a little bit and I decided I would attempt to make my blaster pistol/ hand cannon a little more accurate to the one the Montross action figure has. Pics to follow tomorrow as the battery for my camera is currently dead.

Added the back edging with some epoxy putty which I will also sand later.

I am also debating cutting the box between the handle and the cylinder down to where the cylinder begins and then lengthening it so it meets the bottom of the trigger guard. Thoughts?

Ok so I decided to replace the 'exhaust vent' and replace it with one that more accurately fit the look of the toy version. It's looking like my version is a tad smaller than the toy version would be if I scaled it to real life but the proportions of the parts compared to the toy seem to be about right. Mine just is a more condensed version. I have also taken off some pieces on the body and will be replacing those with more accurate parts.

Here is the vent/ energy pack (?) I have on it now.

Been doing some more work on the blaster. Added some of the greebs to the sides of the blaster and gave the exhaust vent/energy cell the more sloped look like the toy has along with adding another slot in the sides of it. Still planned is touching up the body and adding the top rail. I won't be doing the sloped rail section towards the back (I will be leaving it straight) as if I curve it my blaster would no longer fit in my holster. Regardless, I'm pleased with the progress

So I believe my Montross blaster pistol is essentially complete. I still need to blackwash it to dirty it up some but here is the 'finished' product. I think I actually lost one of the toy pistols I was using as a reference while working on this unfortunately  but hopefully it will turn up among my random piles of misc. junk

Thanks again ConDar! I ended up blackwashing it yesterday to give it that little bit of an extra something but I'm not sure I like how it looks on the handle... might add a brownwash or something to that instead to give it a little different feel. Haven't decided yet though

Alright so here it is all blackwashed up. I messed up the handle and it didn't look good so I repainted it and have to re-wash it.

Thank you so much ConDar. I was pretty pleased with it after I decided to go back at it and hack up the original one I built in order to craft this one. After seeing all of your amazing work  for awhile now I take that as a huge compliment!

So after applying for official status, I was instructed to do a little more work on my Montross blaster. So after finding a pretty decent photo of Montross' blaster from Star Wars: Bounty Hunter and taking a look at the action figure blaster one more time, I decided to do a combination of the two blasters. A happy medium if you will, as trying to remake what I had to more accurately depict the video game version would essentially have required me to start back from square one. So here is the new updates: only a few changes though.

I added more of the 'bone'/wood' handle to the sides to give it more detailing. I also trimmed down the top rail to make it more flush and then removed part of the end cap so that you can see the tube through the white 'hinge' on the back, which is how it appears in the game. I also added a few greebs inside of the open square spaces. I also fixed the trigger.

Thanks ConDar! A little update... I ended up snapping off the black ridge on the back of this the other day while attempting to clean it up a bit with sandpaper... I heated up a skinny piece of pvc pipe and bent it into a 'similar' shape and plan to attach it with screws and some epoxy so we'll see how that goes once I get the time to work on this again.
