That is some very nice work, vod.
Really really nice work vod
the Crackled paint looks awesoooooooooooome. Looks old and heat damaged
Looking good. 8)
Thanks Vode, I liked the effect myself!

However that was short lived when I added the clearcoat

for some reason the clear coat reacted with the semi-gloss black and it cracked as well

... This time it wasn't recoverable

So I masked off the crackled orange spots, wet sanded with 220 and 600 grit sandpapers, wiped doewn with alcohol, redid the toothpaste masking and went over it with a coat of flat black paint I had...
... so far so good, paint is dry and no reactions!

However, on better news the flamer gaunt is finished!
The reticle image has been glued down to the gaunt, the LED's mounted from below and the scope bezel reassembled (lenses) and mounted...
I ran into an issue with the shade layer not wanting to stay glued down

so I used a couple pieces of leather lace to hold the shade lens in place which actually work out better because there was a small gap under the edge that let the light bleed from under the bezel which they eliminated!
and here it is!

You may have also noticed some extra plates in a couple of the previous posts and wondered what they were???
Well, early on I was told that the '
Grab-it Pack' I was planning on using looked to earthy or recognizable

So I decided what better way to make it more "Swarzy"?? Armour plate it!!!
