Nice paint apps vod ;)

as for the back i say stay black with orange ascents ;)
I really like that striping on the chest armour, very cool design.
Thats what I want to see! Very slick my friend, I really dig the design  8)  I say keep the back plate the same as the front.
DAYUM!!! Thats HOT. Nice paint apps, son... My vote goes for the black with orange accents for your back plate. This kit is kicking shebs and taking names, awesome work vod!
Wicked paint scheme!  Kinda reminds me of a 70's Camaro, but in a good way. :D
Thanks Vode! 8) I'm glad to see that the original design from my concept drawings came through too! ;D

Well I got the masking off of all of the orange and must say it looks better now! ;)

Time to dirty 'em up with some high grit sandpaper to get the fine scratches and add the black/brown wash and seal 'em up with a few coats of matte clear.

Then there's the back plate...

It's now got the aluminium base coat and has been drying for 2 days, it's ready for the toothpaste masking and black base coat as everyone has suggested! (Thanks vode ;)) It will have both orange and green accents (moss green color from the cheeks on my Buy'ce will be used on the "fuel cell" and the hose pass-throughs on the shoulders)

Shame on me :-[... I still haven't been able to show off my new goodies I got in, they pretty much round out the missing parts of my kit!  8)
I'll have to try to get some shots of 'em tonight if possible! ;)

So I pretty much just have to find an attachment method for the knees and a holster for my sidearm and that should pretty much be it!

Why not make a holster out of some sintra or something?

Considering that or Leather, will be a cross-draw holster on my right side, plus I want to try to avoid wear where the plastic touches plastic, so I'll probably go with the leather to avoid it! ;)
(and, YES, I can reach across my chest with the plates! ;D

OK, so it's coming along slowly but shirley (Yes, I called you Shirley!)

Got all the painted pieces, except for the shoulders and knees , scuffed with some 120 grit sandpaper to get the fine scratches and they're ready for weathering...

And I wanted to bring the green from the cheeks into the armor... so I added it to the chest diamond since I thought the silver in the middle just looked unfinished :P

I also got the toothpaste masking on the backplate and the black topcoat on!!! ;D

And here are my goodies!
*that could really be taken wrong!*

I got some ammo pouches from eBay:

Since the lighter browns don't match at all I'm going to dye the lighter brown black and weather them a bit so they match a bit better!

I also got another pair of half-chaps! (Pair #3, sorry for the dark pics, my phone was pretty much dead so the flash wasn't working :-[)

These are actual leather and match my shoes much better and can be weathered much better! ;D
I still have the last pair I bought but they were a little bit too small for me, They were a pair of brown suede with velcro closures in really good shape, slightly used, if anyone is interested I'll be posting them in the supply depot before putting 'em back on eBay, (or you can PM me if you want more details before I do! :P)

...Onto the next step!

...More weathering and paint apps to come!!!  ;)

Vor'e! Vindar            (Shirley )

And I got a bit more work done here...

So these are the ammo pouches I got from eBay...

They don't match exactly and I thought they would look odd if I put them side-by-side on the belt because of the coloring and varied weathering so I was going to dye the lighter brown leather pieces black to make them match better. :-\
Well the more I thought about it that still wouldn't fix the fact that they are made slightly different and I wanted the ammo belt to be symmetrical...

So I started with this single pair:

And used a utility knife to split it into the 2 pouches:

After cleaning up the edges a little bit with a pair of scissors I wanted to sew the edges back up but I don't have a leather sewing awl ???
So I grabbed my drill and the smallest drill bit I have and drilled a bunch of holes about 2 mm apart starting at the top and used double threaded black upholstery thread and a glovers needle to sew the cut edges back together (To keep things aligned I drilled the first 3 or 4 holes and sewed them shut tightly then proceeded down the side 3 or 4 holes at a time, threading them as I go, until I got to the bottom ;))

And then they were 2...

Now they can flank the other 2 and I don't need to mess with the weathering (which I actually liked in the first place)

I also added the color layer to the back plate:

Masked:

Unmasked (except for the toothpaste :P):

I still have a few details to add to the paint job (Warning symbols for the fuel hose and electro-converter) and also need a greebly or 2 on the top of the fuel cell so it doesn't look so blank.

Well that's all for now ;D

Thanks Vode!

And the idea for splitting the pouches actually came on somewhat out of laziness :-[
...I really didn't feel like dyeing with shoe dye :P even though that would have been easier and quicker...
...so my laziness was counterproductive!

But I did make these in Illustrator... ;D

Just need to figure out which size works best on the pack...
I'm also going to try to locate some sticker paper so I can print these out on that instead of gluing them to the pack :P

Vor'e Vode! 8)
And Pesh, I think it would be a bit of a trek for ya... but sure! Just be warned, I'm not sure if I know ALL of my tricks yet either!

Aaaaannnnd theres more!!!
Here's a test spray of the stickers I made with the matte clearcoat (Just to make sure that the inks don't run or react to the clarcoat)

Looks like it works to me!  ;D

So I picked what looked like the best size symbols for the 2 locations, cut the stickers ("chipping" the edges in a few spots) and put them down:

Once I got thos details in place something was bugging me about how blank the top of the fuel cell looked, so I found this for a greebly when I was washing the dishes:

So I drilled a 1" hole in the top of the Fuel cell and popped it in place as an intake vent:

Once I was sure it fit I went ahead and painted it up (I also found another greebly to go next to it as well):

These will be glued in place and weathered before clearing the backplate. ;D

Oh yeah, I was also able to weather all the plates except for the backplate:

The reason I wasn't able to weather the backplate was because it is drying after having to touch up a few thin spots and paint the inside of the mounting spots for the new greeblies... but I did add the fine scratches to it! :P

Well, that's all for now, gotta get some more matte clear coat, mount the new greeblies and wrap up the weathering on the backplate and the paint apps should be done!
d= ;D =b
