So here we go. Today I started my final project at college (my kit) at this point i've not started the kit i'm having to do all of the design work but I thought i'd make this thread in advance.

Few things to report vode my college tutor has said i've got to come up with completely original designs for my plates so if anyone can provide some inspiration from members that don't have standard plates it would be apreciated. Also can someone explain the flack vest I don't get where it goes. So back to the plates i'll still buy my helmet and i'll submit it to the mercs with non-standard plates and i'll submit it without my bucket as college work then i'll make standard plates at a later date.

There's not a great deal you can do, if you want this to become official. They still have to look like Mandalorian plates. What you can do is add to them, emboss them, stylalize the plates, but must represent Mando plates.

Best thing for you to do is throw up some designs and let us see what you come up with.

Does anyone know if sandblasting is any good for weathering?

A bit extreme, but i don't see why not.

sandblasting  now that would be some really extreme weathering vod

I would only lightly dust my plates with it and combine that with more conventional weathering.

What actual colour theme you going for?

just wondering if you sandblasted it lightly you could actually go for a desert style so if the sandblast got too hard/heavy  then it would seem apt

have you tried using black brown and other earthly colored spray paints?! different distances from your armor will give you different weathering. alot safer on your kit than sand blasting

Bit of an update vode. my tutor has said she doesn't want to see any influences mando's spesifically she said. So i'm moving my kit to a home project it means i'll get round to it faster Does anyone know if perspex is any good to make plates from?

If everything goes to plan I'm hoping to have my chest plates cut out by next friday. might see if I can go into college on my day off and laser cut them.

Will I get all of my plates out of a sheet of perspex that is 600mm by 1000mm?

Chestplates, yes. Codpiece, possibly, backplate, No.

It's cool to practice it by just spraying some scrap plastic whatever colour, and fiddling around with that, work out what you like best as a look with your colours. Different paintschemes suit different techniques.
