Did some mock-ups out of cardboard today for the horns. I also made my first test mock-up with magnets. It was a partial success in that the magnet actually held the horn in place, unfortunately it wanted to rotate on me. So I've got an idea I need to test out tomorrow using some pins along with the magnets.

You can see the left and right sides of the helmet are slightly different. The ones on the right (helmet left) are what I intend to use.

I did a little photshop magic this morning to compare the reference image to my mock-up. The horns are about 1/2" too tall which I can modify in the final version.

I think there is a combination of issues to address here. First and foremost is that the scuplt of the helmet and the actual animated version aren't exact matches (that's not meant as a negative comment on the helmet). So I'm wrestling with making proportions look right versus the reference images. The placement of the horns also makes them look a bit wider than the reference image because they are rotated around the helmet slightly further. Again, I'm fighting reality versus cartoon on that one. I'm happy with the general placement of the horns in the over head shot but I do agree that I think I can shave some width off them for the final version.

I am sure you'll do a fine job, it's not easy to re- create animie stuff as the size/angles are never the same.

This is the best DW build I've seen so far and I am really looking forward to what you do. Thanks for sharing.
